When I had my 6.0 and stomped on the accelerator I remember it took a second or two for the turbo to spool up and then the truck took off.

When I stomp on my 6.4 still takes a second or two for the turbo but it lurches forward, stops, lurches forward again, stops, then it finally takes off.

Is this a common issue with the 6.4's or is there a trip to the dealer in order?

Same thing on my new one, I think it has to do with the transfer from the small turbo, to the larger one after your rpm's get up there. I'm sure there is a wrench on here that can give you the specifics, but my old 06 was a power beast after it spooled!

You will have to learn how to drive a turbo charged truck. Stomping on the throttle is NOT the way to get going. Get into the throttle slowly and when the turbo is spooled up, get on it.

Well after 10 years of owning turbo PSD's, I think I know how to drive a turbo diesel. However, there are times when you get into a situation where you either "mash the gas" or get hit.

Sounds like the turbos are not in time. The small turbo is running out of boost before the larger turbo is up to it boost point. I had a VR-4 twin turbo car that would do that, I had to change the waste gate timing to fix it. I dont know what to do on the 6.4.

You will have to explain waste gate timing and i am an ASE master Truck and Automotive Tech and thats a crock. Sounds more like a accelerator pedal position problem or programming glitch, see if it has the latest flash installed in the pcm.
