Which Tire?

Am going to be needing some tires soon. Have a '02 Super Duty CC Diesel 250.Pull gooseneck occasionaly, but mostly just normal driving. When I had it in for service, the service tech told me next time you need tires, be sure you get an 8 or 10 ply tire. I don't remember at the moment what is on the truck at the present time. dont worry about plys, you want a load range "E" tire. im not sure how heavy your trailer or load gets, but a load range "D" may suit you as well, especially if the price is right! i load my rig heavy and run it hard so i stick with "E".

some people here had good things to say about Nitto tera graplers. i have had bridgestone dueler revo's and they are awesome for traction in any condition but are very fast to wear out. my next set is going to be BFGoodrich all terrains. i had them a long time ago and they really were well priced, and had decent traction, and didnt wear out quickly. another great tire is pro-comp, and they occasionally run a buy 3 get one free deal, and the tires are decently priced to begin with.

I am a firm believer in the Michelin LTX M/S in load range E. I still have the stock BFG's on my truck (which would be my second choice) they have 56,000 and need replacing but have been a good tire. I will be putting the Michelins on in January.

Consumer reports also does a pretty in depth review on tires.

I have always had good luck with Michelin too. My last set of tires I purchased for my old truck were Pro comp all-terrians which also turned out to be very good tires.

Now that you mention it, I have the Bridgestone Revo's on my truck, I don't remember the milage when I put them on, but I would think that the original tires were somewhere around 47,000 or so and now I have approx 82,000 on them. Thanks for the info people, and have a happy holliday everyone.

Tires

Did anyone do any research on the Goodyear Silent Armor tires. I have been thinking about getting these tires. The bfg's did last for 63,000 miles but I am looking for something with a little more aggressive treads.

Yup, IMO those are the absolute best tires for the '99+ 7.3s.
I have the Michelin XPS Rib on mine. IMO the best summer tire for my '97.

How about the Michelin LTX AT/2?

I wanted to try and stay with load range D tires so I won't loose my good ride on highway. My son has the Michelin on his Super Duty load range E, and I find that it rids a little stiffer than mine does.

I have had very good luck with Dayton Timberline A/T. I had a set in the past and just recently put a set on my F350 SRW and they have a really smooth ride. These particular ones are 10 ply (do not remember the load rating). I had them mounted and balanced for ~$700.

I have also had a set of the Goodyear Silent Armor Wranglers. They were 10 ply and held up great. They were pretty expensive (~$1000).
