I'm new to this site and had a question about my 2004 250 diesel rear inboard e/brake system. With in the last 3 thousand miles both sides the brake shoe hold down pins have pulled throw the backing plates causing things to lossen up and lock up the wheel. there is only 69000 miles on the truck and not rust on the backing plates. I don't drive with the E/brake on! is there any other problems like this one out there? its almost like a defected parts. two of my Buddys have had the same problems. and Ford will not admit to anything! Thanks Bob

Not aware of any e-brake problems with the 2004 trucks. I have over 104,000 miles, on mine without any e-brake problems. Not worn out or jamming. Anyone else??

I've got 10 years and 288K. The only rear brake problems I've had are a caliper sticking and an e-brake cable snapping recently. Never heard of pins pulling thru a backing plate.

I had to replace the backing plates on my 02 because they had rotted around the pins which caused the pins to pull through and lock up the brakes. I replaced them with complete backing plate assemblies from ford, but they weren't cheap. Around $400 a side if I remember correctly.
