Not long ago, I got myself an Adenaline HPOP from Dieselsite.com. As part of their pre-purchase tech support/ consultation, they asked for some data logging with my AutoEnginuity. As soon as I sent it in to them and they got to look at the numbers, they got suspicious that something just didn't look quite right. They suggested I talk to Bill Cohron at Power Hungry Performance. For anybody not familiar with the name, he's sort of the grandfather of Powerstroke performance tuning. From what I understand, he kinda started it all.

Bill looked at the same data logs and noted the fuel injector pulse width was WAY off. Normally it is supposed to be no more than about 4 ms. Mine were as high as 6.5 ms.

I had the PCM reflashed previously with a performance tune for my single shot injectors. But after several tries, it just wasn't working right. So I gave up there and got a chip from another vendor that ran much better. But it smoked too easilly and somewhat excessively. I also had to keep a close watch on my EGT's when towing or putting the smackdown on some kid with a jacked up 1/2 ton Chevy with Cherry Bomb muffler stickers on the windows. I was wondering if my problem might be a case of "too many cooks in the kitchen" as far as my tuning was concerned.

So after a few camping trips the activity calendar is settling down some where I can get that little issue rectified. I've sent both my PCM and my chip to Bill to get everything straightened out. With him fixing my PCM flash and putting his tunes on the chip, I'll have just one "cook" making the finished product.

Hopefully within a few days, it'll be running like a different truck.

Kent. I will be very interested to see how this unfolds. PHP does FICM tuning for the 6.0 and I am only about 3.5 hours from his place. I have been contemplating a drive to Winder, GA to get a little tuning done on my truck.

I know you will let us know how it goes.

Hope it all works out. Sounds like you are in good hands. How do you like your HPOP? Would like to get myself one soon.

I've got more torque than I can use, and that's at part pedal. And that's with the chip in the daily mode.

The big issue is the EGT's. Like i said if I'm towing or trying to put some kid in his place (my rear view mirror), I gotta keep an eye on it. With a 6ms injector pulse width, that EGT meter will hit 1200+ in a hurry.

If I can get this EGT thing licked, I'd really like to hit a dyno sometime. I think it would be rather impressive.

i found in my 7.3 egts were always an issue with any tunes pushing 60 hp, 80 or 100 extra ponies, I recall once seeing it go through 1600 a few times on its downward flow after i got off the pedal. but man it sure was fun smoke checking a turkey
will be interested in what you find
i am looking for a good used 7.3 for a hobby

so funny that you say that...i can hit 900* effortlessly when getting onto the freeway...and im not even running it that hard either. I was wondering if my injector o-rings need to be replaced or my ipr could be messed up. Even cruising at 70mph unloaded i still run about 650-700*...doesnt that seem high?
