Grill Removal

Didn't really know were to put this at. I figured since it was a grill from a 6.0 this would be the best place. I did an 05 upgrade on my 01 and before I installed the grill I painted the honeycomb insert to match the truck. Well I guess there were some area that I didn't sand very well and the paint is starting to peel off.

Now I need to paint the insert before the big race in Oct. So how do you remove the grill. I know on the 99-03 the clips are right there, well now there is a lip that the clips sit behind so I can't push them in to remove the grill.

its definitely not as easy on the 05+ trucks... this is what i do... i take the 4 screws on top out.. then get a long screw driver (12" or so)... and bend the grill back just enough to get that screwdriver down to the clips.. i push on the clips with the screwdriver (you'll see the lip you need to get between... then ones the screwdriver is where it needs to be i just turn it a half turn to seperate the clip from the base..

it'll make more sense when you get to it... hope this helps.. good luck

I'll check it out tomorrow. I have a ranch hand bumper on the front so I'm sure that is going to give me some heart ache also. LOL

yeah its possible.. i have found the screwdriver method to work the best... you only gotta bend the grill back about 3 inches..

Sure the guy that made that grill was laughing every second he was molding it. LOL LOL Now that I keep reading your post it sounds pretty simple.

I know what ya mean... the first time i went to take it off my 05 after having my 03 i was feeling around on the bottom thinking "i know those clips are right here" then i had to look and saw how complicated they had become LOL
