Hey Dane..........

My rig has 223,000 on it now and I am trying to decide if I should change the tranny fluid again.

1) I bought the truck in Dec 2000 with 34,000 miles on it.
2) Changed the tranny fluid to Amsoil in July 2001 at 51000
3) Changed the tranny with Amsoil in April 2003 at 95000
4) Changed the tranny with Amsoil in July 2005 at 153000

Haven't changed it since.......

Fluid doesn't look bad and I really have to get close to smell anything.

Should I change it now....???

If yes, is the tranny fluid sold in smaller denominations so I can use up the accumulated gallon I have left over???

Tbar,

The trans fluid is warrantied for 50k miles for servere duty and 100k miles for normal duty. Not knowing how you have used your truck I can't give you a solid answer but you should be bale to figure out what I am going to say by how you have used your truck. Have you been towing, hauling big loads in the bed, mired in stop & go traffic with the truck?

My initial reaction is yes its probaly due to change but if you have not been hard on it and not been in dusty dirty muddy conditions you could probably got to 253k or any time up to that point.

If you continue with the Universal ATF it comes in Qts, Gal, 2.5 gal jugs. So you should be able to make a purchase to allow you to use up the accumulation you have. :sweet

If you need any help at all with anything let me know!

Unless someone added an external filter, there is only an internal filter. Some truck may have an external. but I believe most do not.

Yeah he really didn't state what year the truck is. The newer trucks have trans filters the older ones don't.
