Battery acid reacts with aluminum and makes the white snow looking stuff. Just brush it off and rinse with water and baking soda (and NOT baking powder).

Will do Dave. Thanks. Im assuming when my batteries went bad some acid got blown around? There was some in the bottom of both trays. if that's all it is then no biggy. WHEWWWW! I had never seen that before and was getting a little anxious.

Decided it was iffy using B99 so late in the fall so I broke down and actually bought some diesel blending it down to B50.

Installed 8 new glow plugs by DieselRx, sold by Pensaloca Fuel Injection.

It took about 4 hours to do. The hardest part was removing and reinstalling the fender liners. -mad The glow plugs themselves were quite easy, with the exception of a few of the glow plug harness connections.

My shoulders are worn out from doing this. OH, I found out that it also helps if you check your fluid levels in your batteries. That was probably more of my problems with start ups in the colder mornings. It seems the pass. side had NO FLUIDS whatsoever. Made me feel like an idiot. Filled it up with acid and a little bit of water, should be OK for now.

Wasn't planning on doing anything special to her today until I...

Noticed a strong (bio)diesel fuel smell in the cab while driving so I figured I had a fuel leak. Made one stop on my way home and a HUGE puddle of fuel dropped from the valley hole on to the pavement. Got home fine but as I was shutting off the truck I noticed a huge cloud of white smoke from under the bed. Now that's a first! :D Turns out the leak was gushing from the fuel bowl drain where the two torx screws hold the two o-rings flush with the fuel bowl. It had filled under the fuel bowl, filled the valley wetter than I've ever seen. It gets better. So I'm driving and all this fuel is dripping down the valley hole covering my tranny, tranny bracket, drive shaft...which spun it over everything rearward (rear axle, diff, brake lines, shocks etc.) plus my rear tank skid plate is totally wet. Then my hot exhaust got splattered with fuel which was the white smoke cloud. :D So I pulled the fuel bowl out just before darkness. I replaced the two 202 o-rings with Viton and will put everything back tomorrow.

That's what I did today. :bp

Just finished installing Energy Suspension polyurethane bushings in the front sway bar, track bar, front leaf springs, and rear leaf springs. No more bumps, rattles, or clunks. I think the track bar was the major problem. Had a mark on the frame on the passengers side where the tire would touch every once in a while during a right hand turn. Had to use a ratchet strap to pull the body of the truck toward the left side of the axle 1/2" to get the upper bolt in the track bar. Sway bar end links were shot to. And it looks like the sleeves in the front leaf spring bushings were sliding inside the rubber. Just alot of wear all the way around I guess. Thank God for a shop press and a 2 post lift. I would not want to do this job without them.
