6.o remote start?

Thought I would chime in on my experience with remote start. I have a CompuStar alarm pager system. After having my door locks busted and things removed out of my 350... I took them all out and replaced the front handle plastics with new plastics meant for the rear doors, removing any of the locking parts I could. The plastics are the exact same thing... minus the door lock holes. So visually... there are no locks.

My CompuStar has the remote start feature... and the turbo timer feature... as well as the pager system and many other options. The only problem I have noticed when using the remote start on cold days... is sometimes the truck doesn't crank long enough to actually start it. Cold days recently in Washington State have been in the upper 30's when starting the truck. Then the alarm will act as if the truck is running... but really isn't.

There is no worry when using the remote start as the alarm still stays activated when running... and if someone happens to get inside, there are no keys and the second they try to hit the brakes to put the truck in drive, the brake peddle is the shut off for the remote start. Same thing with the turbo timer. You can activate the turbo timer and remove your keys... arm the alarm and walk away. The truck stays running for a predetermined time, then shuts off and every thing is ok.

Problem I have had with all of these options... is that I have heard and read that it is kinda bad to leave the 6.0's at idle for extended amounts of time. But that is just what I have heard and do not know if it is true or not.

Anyways... I really like my CompuStar alarm system... probably saved me a few times. Hope this helped a little!

I bought a Ford remote start and security, from Your Premiere Source for Ford Truck Parts and Accessories
But it is a Code alarm system, even tho it says Fomoco on the box.
Has no instructions with it and is a pain to install but I did it.

I bought my truck used and it had a Galaxy remote start in it. It knows if the engine is running or not. If it fails to start on the first try it waits for about 30 seconds and tries again. It doent always start on the first try but alayw on the second try

I have the viper 5901 which comes with remote start. I would recommend something with a 2 way remote so you can get confirmation of start and also be paged when the alarm goes off.

The remote has a timer that waits 15 seconds before starting and you can set it to how long you wish to crank it for. I think default is 1.5 seconds and mine is set to 4 seconds. Also just so you know these trucks need a tac generator to work properly with this alarm.

Another thing that I would do that another person mentioned is removing the driver door handle with passenger handle. This eliminates the bar running behind door lock that thieves hit with a screw driver to pop power locks.

Just to let you know I paid 599.00 for alarm plus 40 dollars for glass breakage sensor. I know you can probably find cheaper options but this seems to be a pretty good alarm.
