Ok I'm in the hunt for a 99-03 7.3L 4x4 f250/f350 and have some questions...My father has a '00 F250 7.3L and has said that if I look at any used ones to not look at anything over 75k miles...I know these trucks are well built and thought that was kind weird...SInce I'll be looking at used 7.3's what is the highest mileage I should look at?? In my area I've found trucks with 80K up to 235K mileage wise. I figure if I can find one around 150K miles I'll be fine but not sure when the trannys/motors will need to be rebuilt etc. ANy info or opinions will be greatly appreciated... thatnks in advance....

When you get over 300,000 miles you had better start to look very carefully. 200,000 is nothing. Look at the body and running gear of the truck and then look at the motor. They will outlast the body.

If your interested in one of the last T444E's then it will be hard to find one with reasonable mileage if your concerned with that (just a number) if the truck was worked, daily driver etc. As long as the services were always kept up with then by the truck based on the truck and not the engine, I have seen them go past 400k,500k in 30,000lb trucks and Fords, depends on what your doing with the truck, like Daveben said the drivetrain "WILL" outlast the body so rust is your enemy. A clean truck with a ton of miles is worth it's weight in gold as long as it's priced right. There are alot on ebay but watch out for scams!!! Good luck in your Powerstroke venture.

It will be the back up vehicle when the weather is ****ty and I don't want to ride the motorcycle to work, tow the quads, go snowboarding, and I will tow a 4 ton boat every now and then...

Found my 2001 7.3 two years ago on Auto Trader. You can set up a profile that will automatically send you an email when a truck of your specific year range and other description turns up in the geographic area you specify. Think I set mine to 2000-2003, diesel, F350 and 250 miles from Houston. I always checked the Carfax to reject the early '03 6.0's and ended up with a 72,000 mile truck that is nearly perfect.
Good Luck.

I use autotrader as well and that's where I've found all trucks that were in my price range. Some had what I thought were high mileage but from I have found on this site they will work

i bought mine with 200k on it, the truck has been the best money spent ever on a trk, it can and has out pulled my ol chevy 1500 X5:sweet, just check it over , top to bottem, rust is your enemy on the body, that would be the first thing to go. Happy hunting:clap:
