The check engine light came on in my truck and it ran like crap so I took it to the local shop. They hooked it up to the diagnostic comp and it said it was either an injector or a module that was located in the fender well.
I had to pay for the test which involved taking off one of the valve covers and it was the module. A $650 module.
I never did figure out what I'm paying for.

Help me out here folks what does this hunk of gold do???

depending on the year, it could either be called an IDM or a FICM and it makes the injectors well, inject.

and yeah, they're a few hundred bucks.
I had to replace mine, thought I'd save money by going Cardone Electronics..
replaced it with a Ford Unit two days later after the truck quit in traffic again.

The data on my truck is there

There must be something in a privacy setting someplace. All the information on my truck is filled in.
Tell me what to change and I'll get it done.
For now I have a 00 F250, quad cab, 4X4, short bed, 7.3 with a chip in it. It only has 187K on it and I put most of those miles on it myself. The truck came out of Canada and I don't know much about the chip. It runs very strong and gets great milage for a 7.3.

Ok

Thanks for the correction. It's a ford and it has 4 doors and hasn't been touched by government financing.....

anyway..
that year it's called a IDM (Injector Driver Module) and yes, it can make your truck run like poop, as it makes the injectors go "click click click"

and like I said,
get the Ford one.

It is already done, and thanks for the information. I ended up with a good story about them test driving my truck, as in to their home and back for two days. This was about a 30 mile round trip and they did it just to make sure my truck was running right. I didn't find out about it until I got my truck back so I tracked down the owner and got a tank of fuel out of it. I didn't even yell at him I just told him that if they were going to drive it they had to put fuel in it. He was a little heated up at the guy.
