does this sensor look like it was replaced in January. This is from my 2000 f-250SD 4x4, It has only 40k miles and it had 37k in January.
The reason I ask is last week the truck stalled twice. I had a friend read the codes and it got PO344 which is the camshaft sensor. I took this picture this morning. I have not touched the truck other than a Oil/lube which I did myself. This part looks like an original of ten years. The codes were cleared and the dealer won't do anything until it pops a code again . I hear it will takke two times for that. Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

I don't think so.. but kinda hard to tell from your Pic's.

Kinda hard to post pic's of the location but.....

With a Good Light..Laying on yer back.. feet toward the rear.. looking up at the crank-shaft pulley... at about the 10 o'clock position.. yul see the CPS.

If thats what you took pics of.. then thats it.

Yep that's about right. I hung the cell phone camera on the passenger side of the engine about the ten o'clock position above the crank.

I also saw a pic online for a new one and a few moments ago saw this post on another forums site " This program involves inspecting the Camshaft Position (CMP) sensor and, if necessary, replacing theCMP sensor and bracket assembly with a new CMP sensor and bracket assembly.
INSPECTION1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist.
2. Inspect the color of the CMP sensor and bracket assembly.
• If the CMP sensor is gray with a silver bracket, no action is required.
• If the CMP sensor is black with a gold bracket,"

Yer on it then.

The Black CPS was known to fail.. the Grey one replaced it. (a Recall)

So now I wonder why I had it in the Dealer specifically for this in January and the old part is still installed, and the invoice says replaced part number
F7TZ-12K073-B " sensor camshaft" "Warranty"

By the way the dealer did not want to do anything until the problem occured again.

Thanks Big Joe

Yer Call.. But I'd find a New Dealer/Shop. According to you Pic's... It looks like they billed FORD for Warrenty/Recall work that wasn't performed ?

Problem is the nearest Dealer is 1 hour away ( that one) then the next nearest is 2.5 hrs -3 hrs away.
what a frikin pain. What would make somone do this. You can see from the smudge on the electrical connector that someone pulled that off not too long ago.

*Bummer

**Whatever their motive was, or wasn't.. The Black CPS [should have] been replaced, with the Grey one.. per the [Mass] FOMOCO Recall.

Maybe when you replace it... yul see the color more clearly. Hope it's Grey. If not, it sure doesnt say much for that >ONE< dealer... (the Invoice ?)
