Been thinking about a Wood Chipper/Shredder for a number of years now. Finaly desided to get one.

Spent 4~5 dayz On-line and looking 'round at local stores. Found several in the 10~12 HP range.. to suit my needs.

CAN'T Buy'm IN CALIFORNIA :eek::rant::eek:rant Don't meet the Dam* CARB/EPA smog Crap :rant:rant

The one I finally [HAD] to settle for, is FOR CALIFORNIA ONLY (according to Sears). I can't believe it.. A Dam* Wood Chipper.. for California Only.

ONLY IN CALIFORNIA: Smog regs for small engines. DANG !

Dang thing sure works though.. turned a days worth of tree trimming/leaf pick-up into 3 hours ;tu;tu

can't remember who was telling me..
you can't buy a gas powered lawnmower in Los Angeles or Orange counties..
and if you buy one elsewhere, you can be ticketed for having it..

It's been awhile since I've bought anything lawn'n garden, small engine wize.. the EPA/CARB crap was new to me, but.. purdy soon here, 2 cycle Outboards will be illegal on any Cali waters.

How close are you to say . . . Nevada?

Only 6 hours. ;) I had thought about that too... but in the interest of My Time.. I went with the one from Sears... for "California Only". $30.00 more, but it does the job. :dunno

I've heard that too JL.

I called a friend who's into Go-cart racing.. he tells me; it's All About the Muffler.. It has a Cat, of some ridiculous sort.. that will soon be.. required, Nation wide. It [supposedly].. doesn't rob any power and has a lower db.

(but this thing Back-Fires.. Big time.. when you back the throttle down. Go Figure ?)

The dam* thing has a "CARB Compliant" sticker on it.. so NOW... I'm waiting for us all to have to take our Lawn stuff in, for a yearly Smog Test, maybe ? Hmmmmm :rant:rant

EPA is crazy today. We own a Kawasaki dealership and some bikes you cant sell in cali. And if you can sell one in cali, It will have its own EPA regulations on it. Like some parts are only for the cali models. EPA is just killing power and reliability on some stuff. We are also a briggs and stratton dealer and they have these motors running so lean that we get the motors coming back after a few months for jetting issues. Getting really rediculous. We used to sell Troybilt and they had the best chipper/shredders out there. The tomahawk was big and bad!

I agree! California has some great weather at least in San Diego. Other than that its full of crime, gangs, drugs, illegals, and CRAZIES who haven't heard of a balanced State budget! Crazies = the Party for Change!
