Question Oil pan hard replacing? Leaking, Not gasket, Puncture.

Is replacing the oil pan in a 7.3 F250 ok for the back yard Mechanic ?
Been tossing around a old Mopars for 40 years, But after looking online this seems like a real big job. The lowest quote around here to have someone put a new pan on was 2,100 Dollars, Almost fell on the floor.

Any help would be appreciated.

to do it right, you need to pull the motor and thats probably why it is so expensive.

Just looking around the net, Seems 1700 to 2k is the norm.

I think your correct, " Do it right.."

What makes you think it is leaking......???

You realize any leaks in the valley of the engine run to the rear.....down through the bell housing and exit the vent hole making it appear to be a pan gasket or rear main seal.

Even if it is leaking.....well......adding oil is cheep.

Had it on the lift 2 months ago, Put some JB on it stopped leaking till this week

I'm in the same boat mine leaks about a gallon every 1000 miles. But you can buy alot of gallons of oil for 2g's

Fix er rite! Just make sure IF someone barrows yer truck you tell them to check the oil or you will be spendin wayyy more than 2k haha. :dizzy

Sure is lol
NJ and NYC have the highest repair costs I think.
Even my Mopar buddy who works on Diesels said he couldn't do it for less then 1200, And theres no return policy with friends as we all know :roflmao

Oil Pan.......

The reason a repair bill will be around $2000 or more is exactly what JR said, the only CORRECT way to change the pan is to tear the nose off, radiator and CAC ect.... and pull the engine straight out, Ford states the engine has to be upside down and the silicone needs to cure for 24hrs, I have done about 25 since I started wrenching and trust me people out there will cut corners to avoid pulling the T444E..... :innocent
