Question AC Blower issue (I think)

Stroked 68, the only resistor I was able to find on my 2000 was directly behind the round AC blower knob. You have to remove a good portion of the dash to get to it but if you pull the knob off you will have a silver shaft sticking out of the dash. That shaft is part of the resistor box. It screws into the back of that part of the dash. Hope this helps.

Thanks nevrknow and csarver for the quick replies! I actually got it fixed by doin more google searches. I found the resistor, its right next to the blower motor in the heater box in the engine bay. passenger side. I pulled that resistor out and its a lil rusty and the contacts where the wires plug into it were pretty corroded. Took FOREVER for me to pry the wire connector off of the resistor:rant. I took a file and cleaned the contacts really good and put diaelectric compound on the connectors. Plugged it in without bolting it back up and everything works! So far so good. Its all put back together now i can get back to packing!

Csarver, what ac mod you talkin about? Enlighten me!:D

that was nverknow who was talking about the AC mod. Not sure what he was refering to. Maybe changing an older unit over to run newer coolant???

Oops my bad. Sorry nevrknow! I think the heat is gettin to me haha. Well I know my truck uses r134 or whatever the newer coolant is. I guess I will have to read up on the ac mod. Im just glad I got the ac back to workin order. Its not even nice ridin my motorcycle in this heat. I'd rather just drive my truck with ac haha

The A/C (or heater core bypass) mod involves installing a valve in the coolant supply hose to the heater core to cut off the flow of hot coolant... in A/C settings.

OEM, the Heater core is close enough to the A/C core to effect the A/C discharge temps, cuz hot coolant is flowing thru the heater core.. continuously. Stopping the coolant flow makes for Noticeably COOLER A/C temps.

IIRC, there's DIY/Wiki on it.

I did it*... and glad I did. MUCH, MUCH cooler A/C air now. ;tu;tu

No telling what ford would charge for both those lil issues. TG for SDD! :)

Thanks for the info joe! My dad mentioned that to me the other day. Makes sense. I will look into the kit. My dad said his 57 Fairlane has that already on it from the factory.

Ya.. some call the valve a "Ranger" valve.. some model years of Ranger pick-ups had'm, for same reasons.

If you do a search.. some of the members have fab'd a valve set-up and did a DIY.. I liked the kit :dunno
