For several months now, we've been told that we would begin working on an additional type of aircraft in addition to the Embraer 135, 140, and 145 we had been working on.

A couple of nights ago we got our first CRJ-700.
This is me and the crew I'm on. We took the pic to commemorate us being the first crew to squeeze a CRJ into a tail dock without f*****g it up. :lmao

It is somewhat bigger than the Embrears we work on. Getting it into the tail dock was a very tight squeeze. There was as little as 6" between the end of the horizontal stabs and the hoist boom.

It is not a small plane. Only two CRJ's will fit into the hanger, whereas 3 Embrears would fit.

Last night we pulled all the passenger seats out. Tonight who knows? But it'll be something new what ever it is.

We're doing a heavy maintenance check of the aircraft.

Every aircraft that flies is required to have an annual inspection by FAA rules. Most airlines maintain their aircraft according to individual maintenance schedules approved by the FAA. As part of that maintenance program, the CRJ-700 that just arrived at our heavy maintenance base is undergoing required inspection & maintenance.

On Friday evening we removed all the passenger seats. Dayshift on Saturday removed the wall & ceiling panels. And tonight we removed all the floorboards in the cabin. There is now nothing but frame work and ribs going from the entry door all the back to the rear lavitory.

Tomorrow the inspectors will start crawling all over it looking for things that need attention. Then I get to fix what ever they find.

That is a nice looking airplane. I hope I will get a chance to fly a CRJ-700. I am going to Hawaii and will be flying a Boeing 767, a first for me. I already feel like cattle.

Those are some nice planes and far more cabin room than the -100 or -200 versions and according to my pilot brother they fly just like an arcade game.
