7.3L Towing weight???

I have a 99 F350 DRW Crew Cab Long Bed, Super Duty 7.3L Diesel. My wife and I are looking into getting horses. We want a steel trailer, anywhere from 2-6 horse trailer. We saw a 3 horse trailer that weighs 4300. I know I can pull this, but while looking into this stuff I wanted to know my max weight pull/tow capacity. We would be utilizing gooseneck hitch. We do not have a GN hitch yet.

Your weights are on the Driver's Door Post. There is a sticker with this information on it.

The 1999 DRW came with 3.73 and 4.10 gears, so what Dave said will
get you what you need to know. I hope you have some gages on your truck
before you start pulling heavy loads.

The >2-6< horse trailer part brings up another issue to concider ?

The GCVWR (Gross Combined Vehicle Weight Rateing) of your 99 F-350 DRW.

That Would Be:

A. The Total Weight of your truck, with you and the wife in it, your gear, and a full tank(s) of fuel. (GVW) Added To:

B. The total weight of the Horse trailer, the gear & tack, plus the >Known< weight of X number of Horses in/on it.

F-350, Duallys are purdy Stout.. But with Horses.. you can get purdy Heavy, Purdy Quik, when you add A & B together for a GCVW, against the GCVWR ???

Most folks I know, that pull horse trailers, have Goosneck Hitches.

Playing off of my aging memory...

19500 Gcvw - 21500 GCVW depending on options and Final Drive Ratio...

under the FWIW category... My Truck Fifth wheel, loaded with Water food and all the stuff for a long week of going away, we hit the scales at around 22K a bit over the rated weight rating, however no issues with stopping or going...

When pulling a 35 footer fifth-wheel it's real easy to hit the mid 20's
on weight. When we take off for our 3 or 4 mo trip to South Texas,
I run across the Cat Scales at the truck stop and it's around 25,000 or a little over.

You'll be fine

Our horse trailer (4horse Trails West trailer (steel) with 3 big saddlehorses and gear for 5days at a line camp comes in right at 9500lbs. Thats well under the GCVW for your pickup.

That setup is hauled with the below SRW rig; even before the flatbed was put on and when it was boxstock. No issues at all.

And FWIW get a B&W gooseneck hitch. Have installed now 5 of the things in the last 8 years without any problems.
