6.0 with EGR delete...problems?

I recently purchased a 2005 super duty with the 6.0. I have heard about the egr cooler problems that are commonly associated with these trucks, therefore, I had the egr deleted.

Other than the EGR delete and a 4" turbo back exhaust system, the truck is stock. I do not tow anything and do not run any sort of programmer. When I drive the truck, all of the stock gauges show normal temps, turbo boost, etc. Also the check engine light has never been on.

With this being said, am I safe to drive this truck, or are their any other potential problems that I should be aware of?? The truck seems to run really good...

I also had a coolant flush completed at the same time of the delete. I am currently at 60K miles.

The EGR Cooler is a possible problem. It may have been deleted with the EGR Valve, but I don't know. One thing about the gauges; they show you what the PCM wants you to see (Normal). They won't vary a bit unless the truck gets to an extreme, then they will go up a bit. GET REAL GAUGES!! Temp, oil pressure and tranny temp are the most common around here. Any gauge, you like, will work.

X2 what DaveBen said the gauges in the dash look good and that up space when they move it's to late:eek:
The Edge Insight CTS a great tool, and with the expandable probe you can add more to it down the line plus you can run 8 things at one time.

Lot of guys get the ScanGaugeII to me not as good as the Edge because you can not use the pyro a must if you pull and if you do not pull

only other things that go wrong with these pickups is the oil cooler and the head gaskets. it would be good to run a aftermarket coolant filter, and maybe down the road get the oil cooler replaced, if it becomes plugged.

Staying on topic.........Drive that bad rig. Drive it to your hearts content. Back it up to any load and HAUL IT!! If you have questions just ask, there's plenty of people here to help you along. Congrats on the truck!!:clap::clap:

Drive it like you stole it.
Add a coolant filter. DieselSite makes a great package for the 6.0.
Add gauges, either Scan Gauge or Edge. Either is so simple to install a monkey could do it.
Change oil at recommended intervals.
Change coolant at recommended intervals.

I have nearly 120,000 miles on mine, it pulls 30 feet of fifth-wheel travel trailer. It is by far one of the best vehicles I have ever owned.;tu
