hey everyone , just wondering if any one has a trick that doesnt involve welding to get a stripped bolt head bolt out of the exhaust manifold on the drivers side . its right where the steering rod passes by , its a tight spot , i couldn't drill a easy out into it.....unless i took the steering rod out & the inner fender which i would rather not do . thanks to all for any help or suggestions

ya , i was just reading about one of "those" things , looks like thats my option , ill pick one up tomorrow morning . thanx

also just found & not sure if any one knows this or if it really does work but it might be some useful info ?? hope it helps , i just sprayed mine with the ATF & acetone , so ill find out !!

Here's the formula for the best penetrating oil (from a Forum post I can't relocate):

The April/May 2007 edition of Machinist's Workshop did a test of penetrating oils where they measured the force required to loosen rusty test devices. Buy the issue if you want to see how they did the test. The results reported were interesting. The lower the number of pounds the better. Mighty interesting results for simple acetone and tranny fluid!

Penetrating oil .. Average load .. Price per fluid ounce
None ................. 516 pounds ..
WD-40 .............. 238 pounds .. $0.25
PB Blaster ......... 214 pounds .. $0.35
Liquid Wrench ... 127 pounds .. $0.21
Kano Kroil ......... 106 pounds .. $0.75
ATF-Acetone mix.. 53 pounds .. $0.10

The ATF-Acetone mix was a 50/50 mix (1 to 1 ratio).

Can you cut the head off the bolt? If yes cut the head off, pull manifold and vice grip the rest out.its been my experience that the bolt siezes in the manifold not the head.if you can, cut it behind the manifold ear

Can you get hold of a torch? If so heat up the bolt at the head red hot and put a little smaller socket on it. Like a impact socket. It has to deform the head. You may need to beat it on. Let it cool down a few min. Then heat the area around the back of the bolt red hot and it should come loose. Just take your time. Also get some nickel anti-seize it wont run off in the heat, it will stay on to around 2400 deg. But coat the new bolt up to the head.

Good luck
