I hear lots about the blue spring mod. I think I know what it does, but my question is, is this a ford part? Is there a part number I can take to the parts counter?

Bgrish, the blue spring upgrade kit is a ford part. I just installed it in my rig and I have to say I see an increase in performance when towing my trailer on a large hill. Their is many smarter guys on this forum who can give you a better description of how it helps, but I believe the spring helps to increase the fuel pressure to your injectors under a heavy throttle.

Basically it replaces the factory spring regulator that is located in the fuel bowl/filter
housing on the engine with o.e.m. as springs age they loose tension so replacing this could help drive up pressure to the injectors just how much who knows. If you replace it be warned that when you release the final torx bolt that spring will shoot half way across a football field.

increases fuel pressure...does that mean it will dump more fuel in?? so therefore more fuel to be dumped in under heavy load means a lil black smelly good substance from the tail pipe...lol thats all i need is more soot to be blown out...already blows like crazy when i lay into it.

The blue spring mod helped my truck immensely. I never checked my fuel pressure but I think it was a little low. I dont remember the exact numbers but I believe the blue spring brings fuel pressure up to 60-65 PSI where the stock spring has fuel pressure around 45 PSI. Anything lower than the 45 could damage injectors (from what I was told).
I was having some stiction issues especially at highway speeds when the truck shifted into overdrive. I did the blue spring mod as well as a oil change with the Rev-X additive and it all but cured my problems!
It was a 30 minute job at most with great results.

Here you go this is a good post by Band_ Member on the fuel pressure reg spring install. Just remember 99% of the 6.0 running around have low fuel pressure and don't know it. All the pics may not load for some reason.
Mine with 17k on it at idle was 50lbs and 44lbs at WOT a killer for injectors then after the install idle 62-64lbs and 58lbs at WOT just right and pulling a 5er it is in WOT alot.

So I finally got around to installing the mod. Took all of 10 minutes. Although I don't have enough coolant to put back in as the old stuff was disgusting, I haven't ran it yet so don't know if it improved anything. Plus, trucks still up on blocks... Waitin on parts still... Sigh. But it was super easy. Anyone can do this lil mod!!
