I have an oil drip above my oil filter. Am thinking it's the oil cooler. I read on another site how to replace the o-rings...with a wild array of estimates of what all to pull off to do it. Anybody done it and have some advice on R&R the o-rings?

For grins I checked the replacement price at the local Ford dealer...$300 plus another $30 or so for the o-rings!!!

Which reminds me, does anybody have a link to a Ford parts outlet that doesn't charge retail? I'm tired of these clowns and really miss my Wabash Ford online site.

I did mine granted it's an OBS so the frame is slightly different but I managed to twist turn manipulate and partially disassemble it under the truck and got it out without taking anything apart other than the bolts holding the oil cooler to the block. The front mounting bolts were not easy to get at but once I stuck a long extension on there I was good to go twisting the bolts from outside of the tire.

Putting reassembly took some oil on the o-rings and some persuasive force from my 5lb dead blow hammer while the other end was resting on a block of wood. I found it best to try to get the flanges that bolt to the block aligned as best as possible when reassembling because it is tight and while it will rotate it is not the easiest thing.

Reinstalling it on the truck, I ended up loosening the driver's motor mount and lifting the engine about 3/8" so it would all clear, it slid in but took some thought.

Thank you Brandon. This sounds like a cold winter weekend project...(wow, I think I am procrastinating!)

I'm not excited about loosening the engine mount. Other posts on a different website indicate all sorts of other creative ways of getting at those front bolts, removing everything from top side, loosening the alternator bracket, etc. Looks like a straightforward PIA!

Take out the inner fender liner. It is only plastic and will flex. then you have a straight shot at the front bolts.
