Hoping someone can help me shed some light. The switch for my park assist stays lit in the "off" position. every second push the light turns off but as soon as i release the button it pops yellow again. I figured the switch was bad so ordered a new one for $33 and should get her tomorrow. While I'm waiting, just curious if you think I'm on track, or if there might be something else hosed. Appreciate any tips.

I assume you are referring to the Backup alarm off switch button?

Does the backup warning come on when you get close to backing into something? If so will it go off when you push the button?
If it does go off then the button works as it should.

Ok, wasn't sure of the name, but that sounds right...backup alarm off switch. So heres the deal: When I back up and approach an object, i get no audible tone. I'm assuming because the switch is toggled in the off position. The off light is lit and no matter how many times I push the switch, it doesn't turn on.

So installed new switch and exact same problem: stays lit in off position, every other push of the switch, the yellow light flashes off but then back to yellow as soon as you release the switch. Any one have any ideas? Appreciate it.

It has to be the sensors on the back. I have seen sensors on ebay for $10 or so. You might try to google to see if there is a way to test the sensors to determine bad or good ones.

I think you have one sensor on the bumper that is open-circuited (wire cut, or disconnected). It is easy to lay under the bumper and pull each one loose and check it carefully. Some bozo backed my truck into a concrete pylon last winter (I shouldn't call myself names, but it's true) and the bumper cut one backup sensor wire -- exact same symptoms you are describing: light on all the time, no noise when you back up close to something.

PS: I hate them anyhow for towing, nothing but a PIA.

Mine quite working last year and its the best thing that could have happened. When it worked and I was plowing snow, they would get ice and snow built up and it would make all kinds of crazy noise when I would back up. Drove me crazy. I would hit the button to override it but it would turn itself back on when it was shifted back into drive. PITA

Well ain't that a biotch! I've been waiting on some replies to this thread but never got any emails but I see some good folks have chimed in on this thread. Ill check my settings.

Well, to catch you guys up, I took my truck to Goodyear today to diagnose my code 27 error on my airbag and told them to give me a diagnosis on the park aid assist as well. They narrowed it down to the speaker. Ford wants 289 bucks for the speaker!! WTF. Any one know the part number and some after market sources for the speaker?
