Bad Injector..... Again

I had some problems cold starting my truck yesterday. It acted like it was almost hydrolocked on one cylinder as it went around, but It did start. I drove it 340 miles today, and was about 10 miles from home when I got that "wheel out of balance feeling" at highway speed in overdrive. When I got home it idled like it was missing on at least one cylinder. The one injector must have been on it's way out and leaked fuel down into the cylinder over the 2 weeks I didn't drive it, hence the hydrolocking symptoms I guess? Looks like I get to go get an injector test done, then tear into it.

So,
Are IH injectors different than ford? Better/worse?
Think I should put in a whole set? I could save 60 bucks on the diagnostic charge :) Lol Mostly I just want to fix it to sell at this point.
I made a call to the dealer, told him to find me a 2012 GAS Lariat!

If you are serious about selling it, do the injector test and replace only the bad ones.

Ok, had the injector test done. I ended up with a cylinder 7 contribution code, but the cold test revealed cylinder 2,3,4,7 below specs, and cylinder 8 was borderline.

Dang. Didn't really want to put min. 2 grand into it just to sell it, 3 grand+ if I have the dealer do the work.

I ordered rev-x oil and fuel treatment to hopefully help the cold sticking injectors.

I was hoping to just do cylinder 7, but is this going to bite me in the end?

Anyone ever use Dieselogic reman injectors? One year unlimited mileage warranty, 1239.95 for a set.
I went with injectors from Pensacola Diesel. I got a whole OEM reman set, with new glow plugs and gaskets for less than $1700. If you want their house brand the same package runs about $200 cheaper.

Believe me, I feel your pain. I had to take all of the equity on my truck to pay for my rebuild. But in the end I will have a truck that everyone tells me will be damn near bulletproof.

Mine wasn't as bad as you are describing but i was having that "wheel out of balance" feeling at highway speed (basically when the OD kicked in) I would make it kick out of OD and it was good again. At first it was only once in a while, then worse and worse until it was every day. I talked to the guys at Mass Diesel and was told to use two bottles of Rev-X and change from the Royal Purple 15w 40 to the Rotella T5 10w 30. I also did the blue spring mod.
this was last year and so far so good. I keep using two bottles of Rev X at every oil change. 122,000 and still trucking!

Alright, tore into it tonight and replaced #7 injector, and decided I had better replace the #3 while I had that side apart. Took about an hour to do. Started it up, took a bit to clear up and run nice (air in system?) but it runs great. I can tell when cold there is still an injector "stictioning" but I wil let the Rev-x work on that for a while and see what happens before I tear open the drivers side.

I seriously cant believe I payed 3 hours of shop time for Ford to do one injector the last time. Not to mention the Alliant remans at the local diesel shop were $247 instead of the same injector being $380 with a ford box around them. Live and learn I guess.

I guess it will be for sale shortly, after I am confident the injector issues are solved. Now I just have to forget everything I learned about the 6.0 and start learning my 6.7.
