I have a friend who has a 2000 F-350 Dually 4 door truck and he is having problems with the door ajar light not going out. There are no door switches like in the past. What triggers the door ajar light on the dash??

it could also be a GEM module fault, look for water damage under the dash by the fuse panel.

Like the Dogman says....the switch is now in the door latch....I had the same problem....it's hard to get to and I can't find any replacements....I took mine apart and cleaned the switch real good and lubricated it....it did the trick....haven't had any probs with it since

Several folks with this problem over the years report a serious dousing with WD40 cured it. I had the problem once and did that but was a bit more careful with the amount I used. I think it can be as simple as being crud on the switch stem.
