Rear brakes on my 99.5

Just so you know, when buying parts for any 99.5, you should specify for a 2000.
Started to change my rear brakes today/testerday. Searched for the calipers and couldn't find any for a 99.5. Went to Azone for the rotors, specified for the 99.5, wouldn't you know it got the wrong ones, no emergency brake surface. So I suggested, try for the 2000 rotors, yup that's the correct rotors. So I said, see if you have calipers for 2000, yup sure did, only trouble with that was the computer showed two different ones, one for pass side, other for drivers side, hot damn, now I've got new calipers, put the drivers side all back together, look'n good, put the pass side all together except the caliper, damn, the pass side must take the same as the drivers side, drivers side is in front of the axle, pass side is behind the axle. The pass side will fit, but the bleeder is on the bottom. Oh well, just gotta exchange it, ten hours at it was long enough. Sorry, no pics, took the camera but the battery was dead.

Rotors--$52.99 ea with a 20% discount Total--#125.98
Calipers--$59.99 ea with a $12.60 discount. Total--$124.00
Prices included tax.

When I had my 99.5 it took three trips to the parts store to get the right front rotors.

The third time I took a rotor up there and carefully inspected the diameter and the offset on several different ones before finding the right one.

i must be lucky havent had much trouble my dually. unless dually rotors are different in the rear, i know they mount different, gotta take off the hub to get the rotor off what a PITA.

The rotors are not a problem, just make sure they have a smaller mounting bolt circle than the front. It's the caliper for the pass side to make sure the bleeder valve is on top.

Oldbull8, need to look at the build date on your truck. 99% of the time anything Aug. and after will be the next year build. Anything at the end of June and all of July could be a mix of old and new year builds.

Yeah I know, damn Ford on there half year builds. I was Gen. Foreman of maintenance, Lima Engine Plt. for 30 yrs. Truck was built 03,99, only trouble is with that, there was a dividing date of 03,21 and 03,22. They should have put those dates on the door tag. Very confusing, even to Dealers. Most Dealers request a VIN #.

Edit, because I found this on the TDS forum. It is about an engine change from 99 to 99.5

On edit: the above applies to trucks with pre 12/8/98 build date. You said your truck was pre 3/21/(99?). That date was a cutoff for certain suspension changes like the front rotors and hub units and differences in the track bar. My truck, (built 1/99) is a 99.5, and I suspect yours is also. You can determine that by looking for an intake air heater relay in front of your glow plug relay if you have that, your truck is a 99.5 like mine, and you can use any 7.3L engine later than that.
