FML. I was starting the fuel filter replacement on my 6.4 F250 which in and of itself extremely straight forward. As I was open the drain valve for the rear filter the lever snapped off when it was half way open. Given the way it broke, there's no possible way to ensure the valve will fully close.:cussing:

Luckily, the cover is available from Ford for $50 special order. The job doesn't look terribly fun, but I unfortunately have no real choice but to tackle it.
SO, any words of wisdom, suggestions as to how to tackle it, or moral support from any of the gurus or masses on the board? :help Anyone happen to have any excerpts from the service manual of the replacement? That would be a big help as there are two fuel lines coming off the housing feeding to the motor that I'm not exactly sure how to separate from the housing at a glance.

Thank's in advance.

Slight correction on the parts I'm getting. Ford actually has the valve itself as a replaceable kit. I just ordered it, but seeing as they sell it that way I find it rather unbelievable that this hasn't happened to anyone else. But since no one cares to share their experience, once I get the parts in my hand I'll do a write up on the job itself. It looks rather straightforward, but we'll see come tomorrow.

Let me know how it goes. I do know that if you dont get a good prime on the filter on the 6.4. Your going to have a hell of a time getting the air out of the system. Took me 4 hours till she would stay running with me.

Hello I need some of these parts or even entire kit. Can you tell the source from where you purchased them?

I forgot I posted this. First and foremost, this repair was an absolute snap. Obviously I'm not the only one that's had this problem. The fuel lines do not have to come off, nor does the entire cover of the air/fuel separator.

I had no issues with bleeding the air either. Priming was a snap even with the filter change. All I did was follow the directions.
