My truck started normal then started to skip, i got it going and it was good at high rpms then i came to a stop sign and when i pulled away it started to skip then stalled out, it restarted but then died once more now it won't start. My mechanic blames the chip but pulled the chip and still wouldn't start. It was throwing codes form the IDM, is this something an IDM would do?

Just based off the description vs symptoms I would lean more toward the lift pump starving out somewhat explaining the power at high rpm but dead at low rpm, I'm basing this off of more experience with these results in an old IDI but the principles are still the same Rich=low end torque lean= high rpm horse power... sounds more like starving for fuel, could be electronic but I'd check basic mechanical first. Throw a fuel pressure tester on it. Hopefully this helps but maybe someone that is more experienced in psd engines will chime in

You and everyone are just guessing at the problem. Could be a ten different and expensive things. The BEST way to diagnose these trucks is to get them scanned for Trouble Codes, called DTC's. Once you find the code(s) post them back here and we all will see what is going on. Don't go throwing parts at your truck, it gets expensive.

Just as an example I work in a "FORD DEALERSHIP!" and maybe 2 people here besides myself are aware of the importance of a coolant filter on a 6.0 but we have 9 "Techs"
