It's a pain in the butt looking for thing like that. I have a coolant smell I can not find. I lose maybe less then a cup every 6 months and I can not find were the smell is coming from. I done psi test, no drop test the cap, it fine. Looked at all the hoses nothing.
No white trails on the 2 main hoses @ the connection to the engine? You have to look from underneath a certain way to see them where they connect to engine.

Did that first. This is nuts, I have a buddy who going to test the EGR coolers for me. He has a new way to test them with out removing them from the truck. Said it takes about 30 min. to do it. So we will see.

I may have found my squeal, and I only wish it was a belt. I have good reason to believe it's either coming from my transmission or my tq converter. FML

Oh man not good, I would have the dealer at least diagnose it then as they can get it on a lift etc.

I was at the dealer yesterday getting some service work done and this guy and were talking about the 6.4 trucks likes and dislikes. He said he had this chirping noise and could not find it. Are dealer here found it and the guy ended up with a new piston, cam and lifters and some other parts. But he was stuck for about a week here. Told me he was going home and trading it in on a new ford truck.

I'm kinda getting the run around concerning potential worst case scenario costs (transmission rebuild and tq convertor replacement). The noise is definitely coming from that area, but otherwise the truck drives and shifts perfectly normal. I decided to dig a little deeper and drain the transmission and drop the pan. I found that the transmission had been overfilled by a lot. The truck calls for 16 quarts of fluid dead empty, I dropped almost that out of the transmission alone. Not good. I also found evidence of a leak from the bell housing interior.

The oil looked good, and the pan was rather clean. No evidence metal debris. I replaced the transmission filter and pan gasket, and refilled with 9 quarts of new fluid., which the truck said was right when it reached proper operating temperature. This helped, but the squeal is still there. I suspect this is either an issue with the pump or the torque convertor.

Now unless I'm missing something, it's my understanding that the 6.4 tq convertor does not have a drain and has to be removed to drain it or is this not correct? My working theory is that there may be an air bubble trapped in there that's shifting around causing the squealing. It would explain why it occasionally does it when the truck is sitting at certain angles. I can also make it go away by giving the truck more power and pushing the gas harder. I'm open to further suggestion but as a "Hail Mary" play I may just end up dropping the transmission and replacing the pump and tq convertor. I'd prefer no to do that as it doesn't look terribly fun (it really never does though).

To clarify about the leak, it appears to be seepage that is balling up on the bottom of the transmission. It's not actually dripping.

Your drip could be just from being over filled. I would top it off and see if the chirp is gone.

Most likely the seal on the TC is messed up. It not hard to pull the trans. It's just really heavy and two people need to do it. Have you gone by a local trans shop and have them look at and see what the think? Sitting here and thinking about it. I don't think it the TC. I'm thinking it's the trans. pump itself. The TC is nothing but a big turbo fan throwing oil against another fan that turn the other way. There nothing there that would chirp. I have a call into a guy I know well ( he's family) and all he does is build trans. If it's what I'm thinking your going to just need a new trans pump and new TC. I should know in a few hours.
