my laptop is only two years old, and it's a complete and utter pile of useless garbage..

HP Compaq Presario notebook..

are these things proprietary like a Dell or MooCow?

or can I get parts from Tiger Direct to fix it?

or what way should I go to replace it?

I was thinking get that external laser keyboard for the iPad I won on here, and just run everything off the external hard drive I have (1 tera)

I switched to Apple computers/phones/iPads years ago. They cost more than a Windows computers, but they don't get destroyed in a few months. Look at a Macbook Pro or Macbook Air. Apple does not load them up with useless crap like HP and the others do.

not propritary
get an ssd. reinstall of software will be required. add/max out RAM as much you can. run in x64 mode too
dont run anything via external hd. it will be slower than a 6.9 idi.. use external for storage only
