I am not putting 10 on any of ours. Not heard anything good about it.

Us neither. From what I've heard.. 10 seems to be geared toward those that have all the latest PC stuff, to begin with.

We don't upgrade until our stuff basically 'jus won't work anymore.

I have 4 out of 5 upgraded, the 5th will be soon, since the hard drive just dies (nothing to do with Windows 10) and my stuff is far from the latest.

My 8.1 machine is like 3 months old, but I just upgraded 2 netbooks that are 3 years old, a 4 year old, $250 eMachines, and an 11 year old Dell. All 4 are running very well, and seem to be a bit faster than they were on 7. All were running 7 previously and doing very well, and seem to be running 10 equally as well.

I am very careful with my machines, and keep the "clean' and up to date. I ran a large network for many years... so I am very "anal" about my computers.

I will stick to Mac. Opened the PC laptop this morning to install some custom tunes into my tuner that arrived via email and guess what the PC was doing? That's right updating...

Every time I turn on my Windows 7 Laptop it starts to update. I usually let it do its thing, without my attention, for three hours or more and then I get back to doing what I wanted to do. Then I jamb it in a drawer doe another 4 or 5 months. Repeat as necessary.

Installed kdlinks software today for my dash cam. Computer seems to be working great for SCT Tuner, Kdlinks and google chrome. Figured out how to turn off automatic updates so it should behave itself now. Only question is how do I delete the data it downloaded for windows 10 that it ended up not having enough memory for? I assume there is a file somewhere because it downloaded for a long time before it told me I didn't have enough memory for installation. Where would I find what needs to be deleted to free up some memory? I will have lots of video files off the dash-cam so I need the space that is limited on this little laptop.

Not sure, let me do some looking. It may just simply be a file, or folder. I'll dig a bit and let you know what I find.
