Howdy from Texas. I just brought home my first Super Duty truck. I've wanted one a long time and finally was able to do it. I'm a little nervous with the Diesel engine. Any advice? And realistically what kind of mileage can I expect? I didn't buy it expecting 25 mpg or anything. Just curious.

Welcome to SDD.com, glad you found us. Sounds like you got a lot of catching up to do.
Tell us all about your truck, is it new or used. Post some pictures when you have the time.

Welcome. Unloaded I see 13-14mpg around town. On the freeway I see 18-20. When towing my boat the freeway mpg drops to 14-15. I have a pretty big mountain to get over. But the truck has no problems getting over it.

X2, But there are variables.. 2wd, 4wd, rear end gears and your driving habits.

You won't see good numbers until you get 15-20K miles racked up.

Get to know the Maintenance needs of your new truck, and the 6.7 drivetrain.. You take care of IT.. IT will take care of You.. for MANY, MANY Years & Miles.

You being new to a Diesel.. There are NO dumb questions here on SDD.. Ask Away. That's what we're All About on here.

Fill out your "Signature" feature.. Makes it much easier to help you along.. if we know at a glance, what F series, and model you have ?

Ok. Sounds like there's a lot to get going on and get up to speed. I appreciate the welcome.
I have a 2016 F250 SuperDuty Crew Cab Lariat. It has the 6.7 Powerstroke with 285 miles on it. I've had it 2 whole days. I have the 3.73 rear end and just made a trip to my folks place and clocked about 18.8 mpg on the highway for about 150 miles.

Nice truck! 18.8 is great mpg's for the first tank. Watch that right foot, it will mash the go pedal and your mileage will go down the toilet. :)

Thanks! I'm proud of her. That is my "dream truck". I've been wanting that thing since I started driving with my Grandpaw when I was 12. I'm definitely watching the gas pedal. I'm learning it by keeping an eye on instant mpg at first. It helps to see that number. I have a habit of calculating actual every time I fill up, so that will help get a true mpg.
