I have a buddy who has been running a Frantz filter on his 7.3L for a couple months now. He tested his oil before he put it on and then again last week and says the results came back like he hadn't run his truck at all. I was a skeptic when he first talked about it but I'm thinking about trying it on my 6.0L now. Has anyone ever installed one of these on their 6.0L? I'm no mechanic but seems pretty simple in the video. Thanks!

I wouldnt. Remote filters dont work so hot on the 6.0's. Takes a bit too long to build pressure. (If its, in fact, a remote filter)

I agree with maetriques, do not mess with the oil system on the 6.0 engine. It does a lot more than keep the bearings lubed. It is used to power the fuel injectors and messing with that is messing with the PCM and that is BIG TROUBLE>

Most of those are bypass filters. Personally don't see how it would hurt, but is something else to have to keep up with. The Frantz systems have been around forever.

Bypass on the 6.0 is a GREAT idea.
Anything that keeps the oil cleaner is good for the injectors.
Super simple on the 6.0 as well. A tap off the filter cap, a return to the oil filler tube through the cap.
Frantz is very good, but the cartridges are a bit on the pricy side.
Frantz is now part of the HotShots family.
Now, you can get a used Frantz from eBay, and refurb it with new parts. They have not changed the basic design in 50 years. The older units were made by Sky.
The new clamp fits in place of the original spring load, and a modern day roll of Scotts 1000 can be fitted if the center tube is sleeved with a high temp heat shrink. Some paper must be unwound from the roll until it's a snug fit in the can. Back in the day John Wayne TP (won't take crap off anyone) had a 1.5 inch core, modern TP has a larger core (less product, but you don't realize it) so sleeving the center tube works just fine.
There are other ways. A Baldwin head and NAPA 1050 or Baldwin B50 bypass filter works almost as well, not quite the filtering ability of a Frantz, but better than no bypass at all.
That's what I did on my 6.0. Total cost was less than 150.
Change oil and filter every 5k, bypass filter every 10k. They only get more efficient as time goes on.

I'm gathering parts to install a Racor bypass on my 6.7 .
Look into oilcharge systems as well. They have kits for the 6.0, well engineered, solid support from them. No affiliation.
BulletProof Diesel makes a new plate to replace the filter housing on the 6.0. A couple of large AN lines are run to the front, a large spin on is installed, along with full flow air cooling if you have the coin. It's a one stop solution for the disposable Ford cooler and has better filtering along with more filter options.

Yep. Can also get in touch with the guy that sells the LE oil. He designed/produces/sells his own bypass kit.
