04 Ford F250 6.0 Getting code P0603

Hey all,

I have a 04 Ford F250 SD 6.0. I just completed the EGR delete.

Truck started up and ran ok for about 10 minutes. Idles really rough and then dies.
Hooked up a scan tool on it and it was throwing the P0603 Keep Alive Memory code.

Cleaned the connections on it just for S&Gs. Starts on its own sometimes, other times it won't.
I'm trying to figure out if it's the wiring or the PCM itself. I don't want to just keep throwing parts at the truck.
Any ideas? If its the wiring, which wire should I be testing?

I'd look over the work area first. Make sure nothing got pinched or damaged. Did you load a new tune for the EGR delete?

I didn't load anything. I'm a noob to diesels. I bought the truck to move from Texas to Ohio. I've been in Ohio for about 2 years. Truck was blowing white smoke in limp mode.
Changed the head gaskets, did the EGR delete, had to replace the starter.

After all that, it started. I drove it a few miles and came home. Started idling rough and died. It will start sometimes, but the idle is rough and it dies.

The code I pulled was P0603. I looked it up and got a plethora of possibilities but no real answer. Any ideas I can try?

I'll check the connections in the daylight. I looked most of them over and cleaned them today but I will be thorough.

Things you should know;
EGR deletes are illegal to install on US vehicles unless specifically used for Off-Road use only.
(Now that you have your 'Off-Road' only vehicle)

Most EGR deletes will set the check engine light and code on the Ford 6.0L.
An EGR delete will stop the flow of exhaust gases from getting to the EGR valve and out of the intake manifold.
You may need a tuner to turn off the check engine light and reset code.
(A mechanic friend of mine says you can try to disconnect both batteries for 15min. This may reset the PCM)

You won't reset the pcm for a egr delete by disconnecting the batteries. Lol need a tuner, or leave the egr valve plugged in. Just zip tie it off to the side.

An early 6.0 doesn’t set a light, only a soft code......
