Hello. New member here. Three days ago I traded my ‘13 F-150 Platinum 4x4 Ecoboost for a new F-350 Lariat CC SRW SB 4x4 with the 6.7 Powerstroke diesel. Sweet truck. The only diesels I’ve ever driven were John Deere tractors back when I was a kid growing up on the farm. Even our two ton grain trucks were gassers.

I traded for a couple of reasons. The main one is because we plan to trade our travel trailer for a fifth wheel later this year, so I needed more cargo capacity and power. The second reason is because our F-150 has 84,000 miles on it with about 60,000 of them towing a travel trailer. The boostie did a great job, but after setting up the hitch for the new F-350 and doing a test tow (31’ and 7,000 lbs of trailer) there is a huge difference. This is a much more confident towing experience. I hardly knew the trailer was back there.

Do I need to drive this diesel any differently than a gas engine? What are things I should or should not do when driving it?

As a follow up to my original introduction post: We bought that new 2019 Montana 3121RL fifth wheel trailer and have now towed it over 6,000 miles with our diesel, including a recently completed 5,000 mile RT out West. Great combination! Tows like a dream. Love this diesel and besides towing it is also my daily driver. A bit over 12,000 miles total on the odometer. On the 5,000 mile trip, per the computer we averaged 10 mpg; typically towing at 65 mph on interstates. I admit I was hoping for better, but I realize it is really not all that broken in yet. The power is awesome!
