I have a 2011 Super 4x4. The transmission is having a intermittent hesitation when shifting between 3rd and 4th. Does not seem to be related to temperature either. Fluid levels are fine and the transmission fluid is still the correct color. Has anyone had this issue? Any suggestions on the problem?

Thanks.

How many miles are on it? It might be time to put a new filter in. I wouldn't do a full flush. Just drain enough to get to the filter.

A little less than 126k. Transmission fluid was changed about 40k ago. Transmission shop seems to think the valve body is wearing out and causing some shifting problems or had a few burned clutches. Checked price for a rebuild and shop wanted about $3400 plus tax. Slightly painful. New transmission is $4k. For that much, might as well buy a new one. Dunno.

I'd get a second opinion. I always find it odd when a shop services something, then that something starts acting up and their first suggestion is full replacement.

I ended up doing the work myself last Saturday. Changed the valve body and filter change. Fixed the problem. No hesitations between shifts. During the service I started looking at the body mounts... bunch of fun to change those.

How bad was it? I think a fluid change is next on the list of maintenance.

I appreciate hearing about this and your solution. My tranny has just started showing the same shift problem, especially under soft acceleration. My mechanic first thought valve body as well and indicated the part is around $1K. I have 325KM on the truck and the tranny oil and filter haven't been changed for about 250KM. The color and level both look good. How long did you you wait before dealing with it?
