Removing rear disc

I was changing my brakes out, about 5k miles too late, and needed to turn the rotors, but I couldnt get the stupid thing off. Its like its siezed on to the studs, and no I didn't have the parking brake on either

. Any suggestions, I did try light to fair taps with a rubber mallet just short of bending the rotor. :thanks

I have just smacked mine with a rubber mallet or hammer for the ones that were warped and they came right loose. It takes a pretty good lick though to break em loose.

Once the caliper cradle is removed there is nothing else holding the thing on there.

Have you tried spraying some penetrating lube (PB Blaster/WD40/etc...) on the studs and then letting it sit for a while?

Is there mayby a clip on the wheel studs used to hold the rotor on? Just guessing here.

Just thought of something as I posted that. I had one that was a little more stubborn and here was the deal. It was on the left rear and you could see that the studs were pushed up against one side of holes in the rotor from where the wheels have turned(hope that makes sense). I took the old pad and stuck the tab in the open part of the rotor at the top. Then I took a hammer and knocked the rotor back off of the studs opposite of which way was causing it to be in a bind. I finally got a good hit on it and that broke that one loose.

I should have thought of that first when I saw you were asking about a rear disc. Hope that helps and makes sense!!!

bend the rotor.

what really holds them is a lip of rust right next to the hub... generally you need to beat the livin' crap out of them to get them off... I had to cut one with a torch once, too..

another thing that they're good for is the e-brake shoe material coming off and wedging into the "top hat" part of the rotor...

just put iron on it if you're that late in doing it
