I just sold my Lowrance LMS240 and upgraed to the Garmin GPSMAP 182. The Lowrance was a PITA to operate. I actually kept the manual on my boat so I can read it when I wanted to do something. The garmin is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO nice. Mine is also internal antenna, so I don't have the mushroom on the grabrail.

I can't really suggest a boat as I don't know what kind of water is in Kansas. I'm used to coastal and off-shore fishing out of Louisiana.

My wife is from Ft. Walton Beach FL and is used to that clear Gulf coastal waters. I don't think she will like the dirty muddy Kansas Lakes.

Getting one is still in discussions :roflmao but if she wins it will be just a small boat that can pull a skier and something to fish off of. :thumbs

But it will have a GARMIN :sweet

If you think she won't like the lakes around there in KS then take a trip down to the lake and pay the ripoff price to rent something similar to what you're looking at you're either going to convince her that she absoloutely needs one or she doesn't want anything to do with a boat and the lakes around you.

the first thing you need to decide is what you are going to do with it... that will just about tell you what kind of boat you need, then you can choose the brand and options... my only suggestion is don't go cheap on the motor.. you will regret it, a higher horsepower motor thats not running wide open all the time will last longer than smaller cheaper one.. and the new four strokes (if what your looking at has a outboard) are the coolest thing to hit the market since ice, you can hardly hear the running and they get wonderful fuel economy

i have a stratos '98 282DC bass boat it has two lowrance graphs on it (one in dash and one on the front) it has a 150Hp evinrude on the back, its the second 150 i have had, i blew the original motor last year during fisting season (i'm still wishing i had maxed it out as far as motor/hull rated hp.) it will run a conservative 62mph with 2 fat guys in it rigged for a tournament... my next boat will be a 22 foot skeeter with a BIG honda four stroke on the back

Ski or Wakeboard?

Does she want to ski or does she want to wakeboard - - - 99 out of 100 skiers that try wakeboarding never go back!

like was mentioned a fish and ski model would be the best choice, they can do both, granted they aren't the best at either but would be a good compromise

here is a triton fish and ski

triton has a great boat the have a nice ride, very durable, and have a great resale value

if your wanting to ski and fish you are pretty much limited to a outboard engine because a I/O will not let you get in the shallow spots fishing.. there are many boat makers that make a fish and ski model you might do some googling to see what suits your fancy

i would stick to a boat with a heavy hull and deeper V like the rangers and tritons... they will give you the best ride as opposed to a skeeter :notworthy that is made to haul bass, but in bumpy water will make wish you had a kidney belt... or a valium if your riding with me (wide open I can give a better ride than most roller coasters in my bass boat)

my father has a four winns liberator ski boat with a inboard chevy 350 (where is that puke smiley when you need it) he loves it for the whole ski/tube/wakeboard thing but when he gets to runnin his yap and we line em up going down the lake... he gets a nice view of my rooster tail.. my little stratos might not sound as good but it is much faster

bigred,
cajun went belly up in the late 90's... sad, they made a great boat
