Turncoat? Robt....you funny. I'm waiting for the dust to settle around Larry's '06. Same truck as mine but with good ball joints. :roflmao

Wife's okay with it, and it's just a truck. Davis Bros Body Shop will get to rape Progressive again.:D

Sat and waited 5 hours for a copy of the accident report last night....typical small town Friday night with only the dispatcher manning the fort.

Spent all morning on the phone with GEICO (mine) and Progressive (hers) insurance companies; and faxing crap everywhere. Progressive tried to cut and run until I faxed the copy of the accident report and e-mailed the image file.

Short of it is Progressive gave me a choice of 5 area body shops on their preferred list; All work 100% warranty for the length of my ownership of truck, and they're throwing in a rental. Kicker is I can't put the truck in the shop until the Monday after Thanksgiving. Tires are covered in the event I burn them off due to frame being tweaked.

I'm happy.:sweet

Ain't that the truth, Robert....it's a miracle we all came away unscathed and a reminder of how tentative and precious life really is.

$8500 so far. They were stripping the bed off at 4 p.m. and the adjuster said he wouldn't be surprised if he voids/writes a half dozen more checks before the job is done. The rear diffy E-locker is inoperative and there could be more damage from the frame tweak. They've got to remove cold rivets from all the associated bracketry/mounts and replace the entire right framerail, and then reattach the stuff.

I learned today that frame science has come a long way thus making a total claim from frame damage virtually a thing of the past. The frame tech says they now use some kind of sound system to spec in pulls and the accuracy factor is 0.030" rather than the old 0.125". I was told that when it leaves the frame rack it will be perfect compared to how it was when it left the factory.

In the meantime, I have to amuse myself with the '07 Camry rental they've slipped me into. Here's a tip for prospective Camry owners....the '05-'06 Camry is a much nicer car.

did the other parties ins. co. consider just gettin you another truck with all that damage, plus, what may not be evident at this point.

OR, was it just cheaper for them to fix it instead?

The Progressive guy stated all options are still open. When the body shop gets the vehicle stripped down to the frame, it will go on the frame rack for baseline measurements. The current repair estimate is nearly 1/3 the MSRP and I don't know what the repair/replace margin is. When the numbers are in, Progressive will present me with an authorization document to sign....I haven't signed anything yet.

My only concern right now is with regard to replacement. That would be a real beyotch.

"close the lid before filling"?

Are you going to ask for depreciation costs?
