"close the lid before filling"?

Are you going to ask for depreciation costs?

BWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

I don't eat candy, drink a lot of soda pop, or anything else like that. I drink coffee....gallons of it, and I'm coffee fueled. I don't drink at least a cup an hour I go comatose. I love coffee....love it. First thing I drink when I get up, last thing I do before I go to bed.

Nectar of the gods:

French interpretation of "Close cover before brewing" that's stamped under the lid of my coffeemaker. Thought that was much more cool than "Verser de l'eau seulement."

I'm gonna ask for anything and everything I can get.:D

The Progressive guy stated all options are still open. When the body shop gets the vehicle stripped down to the frame, it will go on the frame rack for baseline measurements. The current repair estimate is nearly 1/3 the MSRP and I don't know what the repair/replace margin is. When the numbers are in, Progressive will present me with an authorization document to sign....I haven't signed anything yet.

My only concern right now is with regard to replacement. That would be a real beyotch.

Don't know about Progressive. State Farm totals it when the damage equals or exceeds 60 persent of wholesale value. They wrote off my Volvo when the body shop I wanted to use said they could fix it, but their rate was almost twice what the insurance company was willing to pay. I wanted factory parts. The insurance company wanted me to use their shop, and they were going to put body panels made in Taiwan on the car to "fix it". Even offered to "guarantee" the repair. Read that clause closely, it probably has enough exceptions in it to drive your truck through.

YOU should choose your body shop and insist on genuine factory replacement parts. The insurance company "preferred shops" are "preferred" because they cut corners by using salvage or aftermarket body parts. They get a sweetheart deal on the labor charges as well.
JMHO.

you're right on it rray. i know GMAC will let you take it to get it fixed where you want to, and then they inspect the work, then approve it, and give you the check.

You guys are absolutely on the money. Progressive gave me a list of 5 "member" body shops to select from, but acknowledged I have the right to get it fixed at an alternate shop of my choice....penalty was, I'd lose Progressive's 100% warranty for my period of ownership.

I opted for Davis Bros....not on Progressive's list, but they've done work for the family before and use all manufacturer's parts. Short-short....they're booked up for two weeks and Progressive balked at popping for a rental for two extra weeks when they could get it into one of their shops immediately. So, I put the truck in one of their approved shops....Landmark Collision Center.

Landmark is Davis's other, newer shop and the truck would have gone there for frame work/pull anyhow.:D

Who knows what parts will go on the truck until they're on there? I specified manufacturer's genuine parts, the shop says it's what they'll use....I'll have to wait until I get the truck back. In the meantime, I've got a more than fulltime job, some semblance of a life, and the innerweb....I've no time to spend watching the repairs.

In the meantime, I have to amuse myself with the '07 Camry rental they've slipped me into. Here's a tip for prospective Camry owners....the '05-'06 Camry is a much nicer car.
Sam, glad you're okay. Gotta watch those body shops. My oldest son wrecked his 95 F150 when he lived in Missouri a few years back. Slid on the ice and hit another car and Maaco redid his front end. For several years now, the bumper has had the chrome coming off and paint peeling off the hood. He thought they had a lifetime warranty and took it to them to fix, but they said they'd only fix it within a year.

I just read where the 2007 Camry was named Motor Trend's Car of the Year. If it was better than the rest, I'd hate to have seen one of the others given the award.

Thanks, Wayne....everything's good and am wishing you and all a most wonderful Turkey Day. That's where my mind's at now. I heartily agree with your assessment of the newest Camry....it blows compared to the previous models where the LE is concerned. They've made the latest one relatively a wallowy chunk compared to my '05, the appearance is Mercedes-ish with a higher c/g, and the wife and I both agree the interior is cheap and gaudy looking. Of the two LEs with the 4-banger, the gen5 runs rings around the new gen6. Then again, my SC2 daily driver will outhandle and run rings around the both of them.

A tip for someone considering a second car or later model used one and is thinking about a Camry....get the '05/'06. The Saturn is fantastic also.

Sam, I like your 05 pics better than the 07. The 07 seems to have the Toyota emblem sticking out like a big nose. Will be interesting to see the NASCAR version next February at Daytona. In years past, Toyota has been "tough as leather", but they're probably going downhill too. I think they've had some recalls due to quality issues. Guess they're not "your father's Toyota" (to steal an old Oldsmobile ad quote). Remember when Toyota used to have the ads where people told how many miles they had on their trucks? I remember one was over 500,000 miles.
