Best winch prices I've ever found are here: Winch Depot
My off road club's VP is manager of 4wheelparts, Cleveland, and my discount can't touch those prices.

The 9xti or the 24V M15000 CE are my picks....I've seen them uproot large trees out on the trails.

I second the Warn Tabor series. Its made to the same quality standards as any other warn winch, just not the latests in technologies.

I'm putting a Tabor 12K on the ol Blazer.

Check out the T-Max winch if you don't want to spend $1000 but still want a good winch. I got mine through Summit Racing labeled under their summit brand but it comes with a T-Max manual and T-Max stamped into the winch motor. Its about half the price for a 6.6hp winch. Warn is the best but the choice is yours.

You decide on a winch yet? Member of my club has a new MileMarker SE12000 up for grabs for $450 and shipping....won't fit behind her bumper (new FJ). I run a PE8000 on my trail truck and a 2500 on my trailer. They've done fine for a couple of years.

The winch is $553.99 w/free shipping at winchdepot.com....you might could talk her down a bit....who knows?

Luck and regards,

Well, I am pretty set on the Warn M15000, but I think I might hold off a bit longer, I figure I got away without one for the last year and a half, maybe can get by for a while longer. I got the $1200 available, but I've been trying to get myself to save some money up for once in my life, if you know what I mean.
Thanks for all your input, guys.:sweet

Understand your position and I'll spare you my winch stories beyond I've yet to see any brand winch fail. And, I've been doing this crap for thirty years....both our families were heavy into salvage/recovery work. My MileMarker has done unbelieveable stuff. Furthermore, I've not seen a winch failure over the past five years on the trails....everything else has failed besides the winches. Imagine for a moment what kind of demands I put on my 8K when I busted everything else but this before I got the job done.

royfordguy: I am in the process of doing a little "horse trading" and part of the deal includes a brand spanking new M15000 winch. I'm not sure I want a winch that big, so hang in there for a bit longer. Maybe this is something we can both come out ahead on????

Know of anyway we could get it out to you from Northern CA? Any forum members headed East?

As this will be going on a trailer... I'd follow Roy's advise.... gotta remember a bigger winch is gonna require bigger power at lest a 1000CCA.... a good 6K winch would pulll what you have in your avitar providing it is a ROLLING LOAD, the 15K ..nearly Identicle to my 16.5 is a recovery winch... lotta bucks... but has a different use than what your intensions are. now if you were to mount one on your truck... for yanking you or you bud outa the ditch or wet field, then the 15K would be the way to go.

hey roy, a good item to go along with your winch would be an AIC.

when i am winchin' on a INOP unit, i hit the charge/protect button on the AIC, and it revs up the PSD to 1300 and keeps the batteries charged up.

the winch also seems to pull alittle better to. just a thought.

well, i just remembered something, dont think an AIC would work with your manny tranny, only autos if i am correct.
