Rear hatch struts

Ok I know the 2 wheel comes with longer struts,does anyone have a aprt number or source as where to buy them except from a dealer.Im not all to fond of the ford dealers here and wish to give them no more of my money,lol.And being that the cold has set in the rear hatch is slowly becoming a pain with me hitting my head on it and it coming down on its own.Thanks in advance.

Most canopy places will carry a wide assortment of struts. As well as other goodies for your truck.

Ryan,I know Bob at PowerStroke Shop has the 4x2 and 4x4 struts listed in his parts lookup

The 4x2 part number is YC3Z-78406A10-AA

I got my replacements for the 03 4x4 EX from Autozone.. hated to go in the doofus Mansfield, Tx store, but they had what I needed and worked well....

Just got a quote from www.1stfordparts.com for $23.48 ea. I ordered my 2! I think it is odd that the 4x4 cost more than the 4x2 and the 4x2 is longer?????

4x2 is lower to the ground...and has to lift the gate higher to get it over most
folks head...the valving in the 4x4 strut probably has to be stronger since its not lifting it as high

Put the 2wd ones on today, and WOW, does it make a difference! No ducking to get under the door!

BUT - be careful when you raise the newly viagra enhanced doors - mine USED to be able to be thrown open but that extra lift may impact a low garage door
