    Help Needed Truck Advise Needed

$8K for an 03 is a very fair price IMHO, even if there are some repair issues staring you in the face in the next year or so you'll be OK I would think. I would say that with 7 years and 195K miles on her she needs glow plugs for sure by now. Injectors may be OK? Depending on the PO's fuel...

    Lack of power

Ive had similar situations, cold start and no guts or if your up against a curb (or stump in this case) and you cant spool that turbo, you aint going anywhere.

    Help Needed Intermittent CEL

Ditto, take your AIH and ohm it out then go get a resistor to match that value and you should be good to go.

Are your getting a SES light? I gotta believe that your mechanic broke something else under hood during his escapades. I would take it back to him.

Question What is the max temp I want EGT to get to?

Is your pyro probe pre or post turbo? Pre turbo temps should not exceed 1250 degrees and post you should subtract about 300 or so off that.

if a 7.3 does not start??

Yeah you can unplug the ICP. HPOP failure is very rare though it does happen. Make sure you are getting fuel. Smoke when cranking? CPS OK? IDM fuse OK? UVCH OK? Fuel tank got fuel? Fuel Pump operating?

    Oil consumption Big Time!

Depends on which o-ring, the oil either goes into the return fuel or into the combustion chamber.

    id a tranny

E4OD was the only auto offered between 95-97, in 99 that changed to the 4R100 which is just an upgraded E4OD.

    Gvw restrictions

I really dont see cops on the lookout for overloaded pickups. With that said all you have to do is run into smokey who is having a bad day and he might cite you.

No A/C at idle? compressor cycles rapidly, or stays disengaged....works at speed

Your refrigerant charge may be low or your condensor may be dirty causing either a low suction pressure or a high discharge pressure.... need to get a set of gauges hung on the system to properly diagnose it.

Replacing fuel filter when changing the oil

Good observation report Joe! I think we tend to take for granted the importance of the filters. I know on the 6.0 the condition of the filters is paramount to injector performance and longevity. Suckers are expensive for the 6 as well, $60-$70 for a set of fuel filters.

    What would you do?

Tough situation Kent, first and foremost is your daughter/grand daughters safety. I know how you feel in wanting to be the aggressor here, Ive walked the path my friend. My best advice is get your daughter and her child safe, be that with you or in someplace where things can cool down a bit...

    cold weather no start

Dont have a link but can explain. Lift hood and locate GPR, its near the fuel filter on the right side, I believe there is a relay near there for the AIH as well on a SD 7.3L. So take a heavy long screwdriver and arc it across the two large terminals on the GPR and hold it for 30-60 seconds...

Replacing fuel filter when changing the oil

Ditto, every 3-5K would be overkill IMHO. I do her once a year (granted I have the 6.0 but miles are miles) which is about every 12-15K.
