    LED for GPR

Go right ahead! All you need to do is get a radio shack "12v LED" (unless you like playing with resistor/LED calculators) and wire it onto the output side of your GP relay. Red wire would go to the GP relay, black wire would go to ground. Done. Light will turn on or off in sync with your...

Talk about the 7.3L CPS Here!

It will work in your truck. I will leave it at that. It will not slice bread, do your dishes, or wash your clothes. If its all you can get on the side of the road, then get it. Other than that, get the "right" CPS for your truck.

    "Gold" coolant for a 99.5

Coolant wars are always fun on TDS. No one ha proven that g05 is bad for our trucks, but there are claims of "better" stuff out there. I run g05 in my truck. 30,000 miles on it so far and no leaks.

    Stalling problem at low speeds/idle

Fuel pump should be fine. I wouldnt worry about it unless you are having fuel delivery issues, or its making just a TON of nosie. Scanners rarely pick up a code for CPS. This is why even Ford will come up stupid and say they cant find a problem. If the cmoputer doesnt show a code, they cant...

    Please explain "stall speed"

2200-2500 seams way to high to me for a diesel engine that redlines at 3250. I dont know what is considered optimum RPM for our trucks, but I think its alot lower than that.

    Please explain "stall speed"

The more torque your engine makes, the lower your stall speed can be. Stall speed is the RPM the ENGINE side of the TC much reach in order for the tranny side to begin turning. But thats the OH SO SIMPLE version. Truth of the matter is, its a combination of engine power, torque curve of...

    CPS Failure

A shorted wire on the CPS circuit shouldnt cause your truck not to CRANK. It should still turn over (crank), but it wont RUN. A shorted wire shouldnt cause the CPS to go bad, however, you prolly had a CPS that was dying, and since there is no way to "prove" a bad CPS other than it wont work...

    Torque Converter lockup

Its controlled by the ECM, and its variable what engages it. Typically, under light load, it will try to lock up around 45mph. Under heavy load, it will try to lock up earlier. Slippage under WOT or heavy load is bad. Each computer code is different. My NVK4 will lock during the 1-2...

    need some lights

Ya, the japanese are HUGE on "blinging" out their rigs. They look like giant pachinko machines at night with all the lights. There pages and pages of those rigs on the internet for you to look at.

7.3 Weak points? What Tranhy mods for towing are MANDATORY?

Take a trip to lead hill arkansas, and let Brian at BTS remove and replace your tranny. Best 3800 bucks you can spend on that truck. GARAUNTEED not to break, and will tow a house off its foundation. I personally think the 7.3 is a more reliable motor, but the 6.0 does make some serious power.

How are you disposing of old oil?

16 quart oil pan with lid. Haul it into SUCKS since I drive by one on my way home from work. They usually let me go right to the back and dump it myself. Me, alone with all that inventory. They dont even blink.

    its dead again

hmmmm. send it to me? I'd like to see if I can spot the bad part. I'll PM ya my addy

    its dead again

Everything sounds electrical to me. 1,3,5,7 fault? Those all have wires in commmon. Dash lights going stupid? Thats what happened to my truck when my batts were half dead one day. (They were new, but i left something on and half drained them one night). I dont think IDM personally. But...

    Stalling problem at low speeds/idle

Tough call. I'd do Both. CPS and Bats. If the batteries are original stockers, then I would get them replaced (not checked, replaced). Batteries have a 5 year life expectancy. Anything over that is borrowed time. Especially on our high demand trucks. That said, my dads 97 would randomly...

    Superchip 1705

My understanding of chips, is that Jody Tipton is the hot ticket right now. Although, I dont HAVE a chip (I may change that in the future tho) so my chip comments should be taken with a grain (or a whole lick) of salt. I do have the 3-program 1705, and yes, the PERF mode on it is WAY better...

    BLUE CPS MYTH

There is absolutely no predicting when a blue or black will fail. I have seen new ones fail within hours of being installed. I have seen "old ones" continue to run flawlessly for a 100,000 miles. The whole "Blue CPS is better" is TOTALLY a marketing gimmick because a couple of ppl "felt"...

    Superchip 1705

Three models of SCMT for our trucks. 1700 : Original 2-program. Something like 60/80 hp for 99+, and 40/60 for 94-97. Tow and Perf modes. 1705 : 2-program again, and a CODE READER. Tow and Perf modes again. 1705 MAX : 3 program tuner. Tow, Perf-Tow, and Perf (60/80/110 I think).

    HUMOR: Louisiana humor

I thought the same thing when I got down there, but no, its a term they assigned themselves. They take pride in being called a coonass. Its kinda like a redneck, but with a little more self respect. I was told it had something to do with being born in certain areas of the south. Not really...

    HUMOR: Louisiana humor

3.9 GPA in the south means "3.9 Generations Per Adult". Meaning it takes about 3.9 generations before one of those coonasses grows up and gets the hell out of the south. I spent two too many years living south of I-10. And I have to go back next month for a few days. BLAH! At least I will be...

    Buzz and contribution tests

P0603 is common if you have a tuner loaded, or have disconnected the batteries recently. Its the "Hey, I lost power" code. Very normal. Takes a few complete driving cycles to make it clear on its own.

Age old questions about gauges and pods

I have never, ever heard of a PYRO tip breaking on any of our trucks. Ever. There is absolutely no reason to go with a post turbo pyro. Also, the post turbo pyro "difference" is not 200 +/- degrees. Its variable, and changes depending on conditions, and where the probe is located and a number of...

    BLUE CPS MYTH

Correct, the "BEST" CPS is the one in your glovebox!!! Regardless of color!

    Which CPS is Best

Oh, absolutely, the BEST CPS is the SPARE in your glovebox. I dont care if its a C93 (gold contacts) a C99 (tin contacts) or a "Blue" CPS. They all three will work in a pinch and will get you home. Decide if your truck runs better later. Just be glad it runs.

    Buzz and contribution tests

I have run the CCT on my superduty, and yes, the idle starts jumping around all over. Its kinda cool. The IAH code can be gotten rid of with a simple resistor if I remember right. Wouldnt suprise me if the test wont complete if some codes are present.

    Buzz and contribution tests

buzz test is a "key on, Engine off" test (KOEO). Sequentially fires all the injectors and then all 8 at the same time. Hence the "buzzing" they make. If an injector doesnt buzz the same as all the rest, you may have a problem. Cylinder contribution test turns injectors on and off, and...
