    Question E350 intercooler for my 97 7.3?

More than likely it will work but you will need measurements to be sure and compare those to the 6.0 or 7.3 factory coolers.

    Motorcraft or autolite glowplugs????

autolites have a tendency to swell and break of the tip when you try to remove them which leaves you with needing to remove your head. motorcraft/beru plugs are the most reliable.

315/75R16 tires less than ideal for towing?

as the others have said you are likely to have problems due to gears when towing a heavy trailer like that, when you are empty or with a light trailer you don't notice the problem as much. I would also hazard the guess that you are running the factory 3.73 gears that were most common in the SD...

Light smoke at idle and excelleration

If your exhaust does not smell sweet then it is likely not a head gasket problem. I have been chasing a coolant leak on my truck for quite some time now and I have finally determined it is the gasket for the oil cooler at the truck. I still have yet to get the first drop on the ground because...

    voltage regulator

yes they are internal in that the black plastic stuff bolted to the back of the alternator is the regulator and you can remove and replace it. Here is a good link on testing alternators

    Turbo Master Wastegate Controller Question

If you have a 7.3 then the factory headgaskets will hold 40 psi on most engines. The factory turbo on the other hand is the weak spot. It is most efficient at around 25psi and should not be run much over than 30 is an absolute top end and only in short bursts, the reality is that the difference...

Light smoke at idle and excelleration

What color is the haze? does it smell sweet? it should be white for coolant and have a sweet smell. Generally with a headgasket leak going into the combustion chambers you will get an overpressurized cooling system since the cylinder pressures are greater than the coolant pressure...

    Question periodic shudder during idle

I can't remember specifics on the ZF but in general the inspection covers will either be a section around the bottom of the flywheel or they will be a port in the side of the transmission bellhousing.

    Question Fuel bowl leak? parts?

the o-rings that go to the fuel drain valve are the likely source for a fuel leak. To fix this all you need is a couple viton o-rings, I believe they are a #202 o-ring easily replaced and not overly messy either. HPOP hose seals are not unheard of but not too common either you should be able...

    Clutch Master Cylinder Bleeding Problem

    Question periodic shudder during idle

yeah I was afraid that was your problem as that seems to be the culprit for vibrations at idle with the 5 speed trucks. I've read very few who were unhappy with the Southbend clutches and the Con-O is a good one for your power level and some somewhat significant upgrades in the future.

    1997 ford f250 vs 02 chevy silverado

if you do a boosted start and keep traction then I think you might have a chance. (essentially power brake the truck before you go) Word of caution: boosted launches are hard on everything in the drivetrain especially the transmission.

Help Needed I am about to shoot this truck

the voltage applied to the shift motor is battery/alternator voltage, FSM's indicate that any less than 9V to the control module will cause a problem. The timing is not specified because the control module uses range sensors to determine when the motor has turned far enough.

Help Needed I am about to shoot this truck

LAPLANT I'll check my FSMs when I get home and give you and see if the same voltages applied were used for the '95 F-series and the '92 Ranger & Ranger based vehicles, if so then I would expect that the same will apply to your truck Sportsnutim your fuel gauge likely stopped working due to a...

DIY front end alignment????? 2wd dually

IIRC the 2wd trucks are a coil spring twin I-beam setup so you can do part of the alignment but not all of it with a tape measure. All of the information is based on the twin I-beam front suspension setup, some may apply to other types of front suspensions but not all of it. With a tape...

the Factory Service Manuals are going to be the best source for the information you need. There used to be a guy selling the electronic versions on ebay for around $10. Question Automatic --- manual conversion?

the trans hump is higher in the 6 speed trucks vs the autos. you'll also need a new transfer case since the 6 speed has a different spline count on the output shaft. The Easy list that will well exceed the cost of a built transmission & install from your choice of the better transmission...

    stock exhaust size

stock exhaust from the downpipe flange back is 3.5" The factory downpipe is a nice flattened nightmare that flows horribly. The "standard" upgrade is to a 3" downpipe and 4" from after the downpipe to the rear with mandrel bends. space constraints limit the downpipe size without firewall...

    h p cross over tube

no not at all, the oil in the HP oil rails is not drained when you pull the oil drain plug in the plan. just stuff some rags down in the valley or below the plugs you pull out to install your crossover hose/tube and you can control the mess easily. Unless you are pulling the plugs at the rear...
