    Dont get a 2000 stock program, they really suck... Get a more modern one that will keep the TC locked when the brakes are applied. I think mine is based on a 2003. Git it from TDP (Total Diesel Performance). TC will stay locked when slowing and the brakes are on.

    Yep, Stock tune is from the chip.. Mine is a 2k with that stupid TC unlock when touching the brake... With the chip in stock it acts like a 2003 and the TC stays locked now. My new sock also has more power than the PCM stock, newer truck came that way. It is very rare it sees stock.

    Glow plugs doesnt make that much sense. If he is towing and it smokes wouldn't that indicate that it is already warmed up and not needing glow plugs? Smoke would be white also I would think.

    Most just add it to their tool boxes. You can also drill a hole in the top of the filter plastic and put it there.. I found a site once that a person put up with how they did it. I do normal street driving and plan to replace it around 15k.

    Boiling and cool water is to vague. Get a thermometer and watch the t-stat open and close as you heat and cool the water to see if it opens and closes at the correct time. I might be way off, but did you install the correct t-stat? I recall that they are somehow special in length.

    K&N is a very poor filter, just like any gauze/oil filter. Great for racing where filtering and engine life isnt as much of any issue as a street vehicle. Gauze/oil filters can be as bad as 96% efficient (per K&N site). Paper filters are around 99% and above. SO, gauze/oil can let 4X the dirt...

    Stock intake doesnt have enough flow for a chip. Get that swapped out and you will see a world of difference. Get the DYI NAPA 6637 filter, a 6-inch piece of 4-inch exhaust pipe and 2 long hose clamps. That will get you plenty of clean filtered air. Can get more than 80 with stock injectors...
