    New Member Check engine light

Welcome! I would first post this down below in the 6.7 engine forum. Get a faster response. Also put your truck description in your signature. Helps those with answers to know what rig you're talking about. Unfortunately I don't have an answer for you. Under warranty the Ford techs should be...

Question Black Smoke Under hard Acceleration

Sorry, a bit misleading. I didn't do it. I have a real good diesel guy in Coeur d'Alene, ID and after testing/scanning it was determined the vanes were sticking in the turbo. They pulled it and cleaned it all up. I've watched the videos on it and I know what they do but I don't trust myself to...

Question Black Smoke Under hard Acceleration

Turned out the turbo needed to be cleaned. Map sensor port on the intake was pulled and cleaned as well as the EBP sensor which was about 50% plugged. Apparently from previous owners not driving it hard enough. Little by little getting these small things taken care of.

Question Black Smoke Under hard Acceleration

Driving today I got a puff once that I could notice when flooring it after making a slow turn. The wife's rig just got a new starter today so the scanner is on the back burner. I'm holding off on that since I plan on getting an Edge monitor that reads codes, too. I don't see the need for both...

Question Black Smoke Under hard Acceleration

My '04 is still bone stock. Delete and exhaust is in the plans but it's only money, right?? New EGR valve last August. New injectors and fuel filters 2500 miles ago. Has been running awesome. A month ago maybe I started getting some black smoke and low power at low RPM and heavy throttle like...

    Head gaskets melted #3 piston

Use the Ford head gaskets when you reassemble. The others are more likely to fail. Look at www.powerstrokehelp.com and Bill Hewitt explains why. If you don't need the EGR do not put it back on. Get a different delete kit if you must. If you have emission tests then get an upgraded cooler. Check...

    99 SD door panel replacement

The panels are the same from '99 to '07 I think. At least they look the same to me. '08 and up are a different style but might install the same way?

    Help Needed Please help!

I'm thinking unless you know the maintenance and repair history you better have deep pockets. Oil and fuel maintenance is crucial on these or the costs will be nuts. DPF systems are expensive, too, unless you can delete it. If the truck is a mess I would at least have a good mechanic look at it...

    Box upper mldg on 2000sd

I would think reuse unless the tabs broke off that snap into the bed rail.

New Member First time diesel owner

Welcome to the site! First thing is do not run any tunes if the headstuds have not been done. The EGR needs to be deleted or upgraded if a delete is not possible where you live. When towing your oil and coolant temps need to be within 15 degrees of each other or your oil cooler is getting...

    New to forums

Yes, Oilburners specializes in the IDI. I had a '94 IDI Turbo for 14 years and learned a lot there. Rugged, reliable just not as speedy. Enjoy it.

    used FORD for $5000

You have to look at the book values and then they are low sometimes. If that's your budget then an old body style is your best bet. There are some good ones out there but you have to be careful.

    Bluetooth auto connect

I have no clue with the Ford system but isn't it funny just a few years ago we would never have had this question?? Technology!:D My truck came with an Alpine after market with all the Bluetooth features. It is nice especially answering the phone through the radio.

    Keyless remote

I have gotten a bit lazy with my key fob and the key less entry  but it is annoying when something you paid for and somewhat rely on doesn't work right. If it has the feature I want it to work. Mine has the door key pad as well so the only time I use the key anymore is to lock and...

    No compression 6.4

If it's all of them then I'm thinking something in the valve train not letting one set of valves close. With the newer engines maybe there's something else that could also do this?

Article Which Oil Should I Use?

7000 miles into using Delo synthetic 5-w40. So far so good. 2000 miles on new injectors so the synthetic oil should be good for them, too. All Ford filters, too.

    Front Swaybar Bushings

Do you know if those are available without the end link bushings? What I've seen so far was the complete kit which I don't think I need but I need to crawl under when it quits raining and snowing to see for myself.

Thanks again. I'll try my NAPA first and go from there.

If the ones I get do not have grease included any suggestions? Silicone type? Oh, and thanks for the replies! ;tu
