    Recent 6.0 observations

Bell house leak - this may just the assembly grease that is running down. I wouldn't worry to much about it until you have more mileage. Leather seats = King Ranch :sweet EGR - some do run pretty good without them, some don't. Mine runs like crap with it unplugged. Keep in mind though...

    Ford -vs- Dodge fuel mileage

AMSOIL needs to ordered directly from them and it's shipped straight to your door. Sometimes I run out of it and an oil change sneaks up on me so I use the Shell syn oil - no problems - but the truck just seems to like the 5/30. As for tires - it's just one of those things I accept in life -...

    Ford -vs- Dodge fuel mileage

Scott, As you know there are a lot of variables when it comes to mileage. So let's set this up first. To start with - I installed my first box when the truck had 27 miles on it. Just long enough to get from the dealer to my house. About 40K on her now and I'd say 35K of that is with a box...

    Ford -vs- Dodge fuel mileage

I was actually in agreement to your earlier statement in regards to the F650 - should have made that a little more clear. Ron

    Ford -vs- Dodge fuel mileage

After testing and having several other chips/boxes/etc - I am thrilled with my Quadzilla (160). Does it make the most power? No - but it makes more than I need - most importantly it delivers really good fuel mileage. Interstate driving I get in the low 20's . . . My last trip up to...

Need Help Finding A Lamp - Navy Guys?

Was out with the wife furniture shopping so I asked the saleslady - she gave me two leads - Remington and Virginia Metal Works - checked and they both make lamps that are very very close. I know the whole thread is silly - but I saw it, want it and then it becomes a quest to find one. Ron

    Ford -vs- Dodge fuel mileage

Well - maybe not, but it is true. Go online to the Ford site and see for yourself - there are options. But back to the topic - my boss bought a 05 Dodge 250 last fall and his number one complaint is his fuel mileage. He likes the motor - power, etc - just hates his mileage. Said he was...

Where to get info on ODB Readers, Loggers

I would get the CAN enabled AE - it's backwards compatible and then your covered for future trucks/cars or if you just want to help someone out. AE includes these in the program. You will want the enhanced package. If you dig deep enough on the AE site it will give you a list of all the...

Need Help Finding A Lamp - Navy Guys?

I know :( - but there was hope. Actually saw them in another navy type movie also . . . but if'n I do find one - I'll put it in my office here and call it an Army lamp :D I would ask my Dad - 26 years he put in - but he would just laugh at me. Ron

    Overdrive light flashing

Well they don't fix themselves - I know that mine didn't once it started flashing. I'd say you need to make plans to have it worked on. Best guess is maybe a sticking solenoid. Ron

Best way to weatherproof white pine?

Another vote for Linseed - soak it as much as possible. Caution though - do not store any used rags or such in a pile in the house/shop or whatever. Combustion can and will take place. About 12 years ago I built a train trestle/bridge for my Dad's garden train out of scrap red oak. Cut and...

Need Help Finding A Lamp - Navy Guys?

Watching the movie "Stealth" - and in the captains or commanders quarters I saw these lamps - and I want one. Anyone have an idea on where to find one? Looked at a thousand lamps on the net so far - no luck on ones that look like these - find some the resemble - but not close enough. Maybe it's...

For all you MPG nuts and risk takers

Sure they could - most stations use whatever local supplier to get thier diesel from. I'm not talking large truck stops now - cause I have never seen them getting fuel deliveries. Only the Amoco/BP stations are ones that I seen Amoco/BP trucks deliver diesel. All the others around here -...

Diesel humor :) Heck - we have a few "gassers" in our NOVAPS club that are known as our "tokens" . . :D I'm sure that Silver meant nothing more than to cause a few grins . . . Ron

    1st Diesel

My recent numbers are: 18-20 normal driving (which means I drive it like I stole it) - 20 to 22 just doing interstate (70 to 80 mph) and anywhere from 15 to 17 when towing 12K plus excavators around. Now I do use a Quadzilla which pushes the mileage up there. I also use AMSOIL - she just...

    Seat removal?

I had my rear out several times in my 2001 - sometimes I had help - sometimes not. Obvious it's better to have help - but it can be done with no damage by your self. I placed a moving blanket on the sill and then wrapped one around the seat itself. Just take your time is all I can say. Ron

    New Ford SD Owner

You are very correct in waiting for a proper break in period before adding any mods. It can be very stressfull on the motor if added to soon. But once you do add say a box - traditionally the first words uttered will be "Holy S**t" :D Like you, I wanted to make sure that I had enough time...

Do your research before you Ebay!

Couple of years ago, my first time ever, I bid on a "used" Auto Tap. Figured it was worth (to me) half the price of a new one and bid accordingly. Stupid people - the winning bid was for like $20 more than a new one would have cost - and they still had to pay shipping. My second attempt at...

    Optima battery info

Can't remember exactly what year at the moment - but early 90's I bought a yellow top Optima (bought it through the local Interstate Distributer) for my E150. In 2000 I bought a new F150 and put that same battery in it. When I traded that truck in the following year (for the 01 F350) I took it...
