    Milage

You are in the norm. My 03(gone) & 06 both tow or towed 6-8K daily and I never saw less than 10. The norm was 12-14 at whatever speed traffic would allow and standing on it off the line in city traffic.

    Water to cabin???

Pre 1980 it was an outhouse for waste and a hand pump for water. When my Grandpa move up there in 80 he had the septic system done. Septic is the only way I would ever do it. Can't imagine trucking waste out.

    Water to cabin???

Ditto: Providing you are not way up on a hill. Wells next to a lake are cheap compared to most areas. Ours in the UP of michigan is only 25'. When the snow melts in the spring water actually flows out the top of the well, so even 25' is overkill. As for freezing take a look at what I did...

    Changing my own oil

Follow the F2500 link in my sig for a pic: If you are driving a 4x4 the front axle will take the hit before the valve is ever touched. If it did take a serious hit? you would be more likley to bend the oil pan and leave the fumoto intact. I say this because when you tighten the fumoto or any...

Read the fine print ... Inverter install

I was looking through some posts about inverters and decided I wanted to charge my 18V Milwaukee 3 pack on the fly between jobs. Power requirements for this are 450V so I went bigger to compensate for future needs and bought this one. TheInverterStore.com - AIMS 1250 Watt Power Inverter 12 Volt...

    Wire protection stuff???

I have some electrical projects coming up on the truck and need to find some OEM type wire protection tubing. I've tried the stuff that HD, Lowes, hardware stores and auto parts stores have and it's crap. Any moderate heat and the stuff turns to mush +/or better brittle. I want the same quality...

    FS-2500 bypass filter system

UPDATE to the FS-Install... I received some new stuff today. And it appears to worth the wait. Filtration Solutions came up with a new method of feeding the return oil back to the 6.0 - It's an adapter that threads into the same hole as the oil filler tube (& the filler tube threads into the...

    tried some B-100 ???

Hey bio peeps, I ran a few tanks of B-100 (Soy based) & noticed this; truck ran quieter, smelled better, power seemed the same & mileage appears to have suffered. Now I'm not a calculate mileage on every tank person. I top it off as much as the foam will let me and run until the "lowfuel" light...

    OA ?? I have a thought

This may be a brain fart, but here we go anyway. When you have an OA showing wear metals in your oil. Are they just an indicator of engine problems <or> do they cause wear themselves <or> a combination of both??? I ask because after a few beers Monday night I had a thought. If the wear metals...

Only you guys would appreciate this!!!

I'm climbing into bed last night. My wife is already there and not wearing anything. She only said one thing after I was there. "How's your oil?" She had seen the blackstone email earlier. I replied all is good and I'm ok to use it longer. Is it wrong to be in that situation and all your...

    PSD vs. shed

If you judge where to stop your truck based on when you hit the snow bank at the end of the driveway??? And let's say one day it's sunny and 50 out and the next it's - say -20??? Keep in mind that same snow bank is now an iceberg capable of crunching SD bumpers   :cold 3

6.0L - issues, solution, and cost

Not even 40 yet Max. I just need my truck to work every day. A week of down time in the summer months would cost me 5-10K. And it's not work I can make up later. If I can't do it then? - someone else will. During breakdown time, renting a full size P/U w/ a hitch is just about impossible. I...

6.0L - issues, solution, and cost

Ford Nut; As I was driving today I stomped on it as I usually do and - as usual I was amazed at the (STOCK!!!) 7000 pound truck's acceleration. I will never understand why people who use their SD as a daily driver get chips and tuners??? If you want reliability? the best way is leave it stock...

    Extended Warranty

On that note, some aftermarket companies also want to inspect the truck before repairs are done which can ad another couple days to your wait. -mad another thought ;) - These trucks are made to work. Standard gears tow 14K w/ 3:73 - srw I beleive. They are work horses. The trans or rear...
