Oil Leak Found. What is this?

http://www.dieselbombers.com/ford-powerstroke-03-07-6-0l/95768-6-0-glow-plug-harness-leak-fix-removal-installation-photos.html Here is a guy with the same problem, he has step by step with pictures of how to fix it. It doesnt look like it is a valve cover gasket problem. You can fix this with...

220 volts on Engine block heater?

I wouldnt be afraid to use a transformer to run it, if you could find something rated for that kind of wattage. A step down transformer is pretty common in industrial equipment, but probably not cost effective for you.

Question 7.3 sounds like somebody hitting it with a hammer is this injector knock

Sounds like a bad injector. Any other symptoms? power loss, more smoke than normal? Oil leaks? getting air into hpop system when not running? might just try changing fuel filters, and making sure its not a fuel pressure issue. last injector i had replaced was over 800 bucks w/labor. dont blame...

I agree oil is probably not leaking from the head gasket. Get one of these inspection mirrors and do some careful looking in the back of the engine valley. You'll find it. Here is a video of a guy doing head gaskets with the cab on. Very interesting...

220 volts on Engine block heater?

Funny you should ask, my boss at my old work decided he would put an outlet outside for us to plug in vehicles in the winter. He tied it into an existing outlet inside the building, problem was when he made the connection he pulled two LOAD wires instead of a load and a neutral. I had my truck...

    Winter oil weight

Make sure to check battery cable connections also. Just a little corrosion on those crappy steel clamps can REALLY make a difference in the cold. There's a reason these trucks have two batteries, they need every bit of juice they can get in the winter. I have been able to start into the -20's...

I have seen it done without pulling cab or motor, but it looked like a lot of work.

    TailGate Striker Bolts

Ahhh that really sucks. What if you put a piece of wood along the whole length of the box, right on the top edge, maybe a towel behind it or something, then push gently with the your loader or something? I agree with the others getting the box sides back into place is the best way to go.

I guess that makes it less likely that the leak is from the ICP sensor....

If its an 04 it should be on front pass side of the engine valley, kind of where the alternator is, threaded into the HP oil rail. If it is an older engine it is right under where the turbo mounts, center rear engine valley, on the hpop cover just behind the ipr. Not sure when in 04 they changed...

    Winter oil weight

I change at 10K intervals. Like DaveBen alluded to, every truck/driver will be a different. I did a lot of oil sampling to back up my extended oil change interval, and I have a bypass filter installed. Since we are coming into cooler weather, I would put the 5w-40 in, run it to 7500 miles...

Yeah I dont see any problem with switching back and forth. Synthetic and conventional are fully compatible.

who said amsoil? says right in my sig i run mobil...Anyway dont want to offend or confuse anyone. I changed my previous post a little bit to make it easier to understand. I was just trying to make 2 points- - if you dont take advantage of the benefits that(any brand) synthetic can give, why pay...

    Winter oil weight

Yeah yeah I know the extended oil change interval is controversial. When I did my oil testing I was hoping for 15-20K miles on synthetic oil, but I was only able to get 12-15K before my viscosities and base numbers were down. But at 10K I can still break even economically to put in synthetic and...

    Winter oil weight

5w40 synthetic all year long up here. Starts are much improved, plus a little better fuel mileage. I tow lots of way too heavy stuff around the farm (18k+), no issues. Through oil tests I figured out I can extend changes to 10K miles, so oil ends up being about the same price as conventional...

When I had my cooler out it was WET and green. I had a cloud of steam out the exhaust so thick I was getting honked at. But, since you have been putting only water in, it could have simply dried up??? It would certainly dry faster than antifreeze. You could always rig up some hose clamps/...

Any moisture in the egr cooler? It looks dry in the pics. Other places to lose coolant? head gaskets. i have heard talk of flash boiling coolant in oil cooler, causing it to blow out of the degas. dont know if that is true or if its wishful thinking of people with head gasket problems. any...

    Delete or replace EGR Cooler

I like it- looks like that oil cooler is just the element, so you will have a little more work after you get the old one out to r&r it from the cover. That is not shown on the service manual page I posted but it shouldnt be too bad. For cleaning, Ford makes a coolant flush for that purpose...

    Delete or replace EGR Cooler

I put a bulletproof cooler in mine. (bulletproofdiesel.com) They are way cheaper now than when i bought mine. I guess the only reason i did that vs. a delete kit was to avoid a check engine light. There's nothing that drives me crazier than a check engine light. I would change the oil cooler...

    Flat tire solutions anyone?

Additives/green slime work but are made for small punctures like nails. I imagine there are not a lot of nails on the logging roads, you're probably dealing with bigger punctures/tears? I put 205/75/15 automotive tires on my camper and they work fine, but I dont think they are more flat-proof...
