    u joints

If you added extra grease that could cause the cap not to seat deep enough to get the clip seated. A u-joint is built to go together VERY tight inorder to keep the grease in and the dirt out. Good luck with your project. Hal

    comment The "chips" are down

I love my DP tuner and you will too! I have the 60 hp. tow and the 80 hp econo. Both have improved the mpg and performance of my truck. I usually get 11-12mpg when towing our toyhauler and 17-20mpg unloaded on the highway @ 65mph. These are averaged and NOT taken from the 'lie-o-meter' which...

    Trip Computer

Go to Radio Shack and buy a 15 watt soldering iron and some solder and solder it yourself! It's already messed up so you can't mess it up any more. You may want to buy new resistors while you are at Radio Shack. The stock flat ones are hard to solder, that may be why they keep working loose.

    rear locker for 2003 f250 7.3

Get a Tru-Trac for the rear. It isn't a true 'locker' but will have MUCH better street manners that a full locker such as a Detroit. I would not waste my time with the "drop in" lockers, such as a Loc-rite, behind a high torque diesel. I've seen a bunch of them break in Jeeps and Samiras. I...

    7.3 Fuel Milage, reliability, 2001

I've had my 01 SD almost 2 years and love it, except when I fill up.... I have replaced the following: left front wheel bearing, both front brake rotors, front and rear brake pads, and the UVC harness, all are normal wear items that would have to be replaced with any vehicle if you drive it...

    Chip?

I LOVE my DP Tuner. It beats the Superchip tuner I had hands down. I got these three tunes, stock, 50hp tow and 80hp econo. I have no need for the 100 or 120hp tunes, the 80hp econo works GREAT an I still get 17-18mpg or 20-24mph if you believe the 'lie-o-meter'. Give Tony a call at DP Tuner...

Braided brake lines and other brake issues

I have had braided brake lines fail twice but, not at the same time. I used to use them on my 'off-road' Toyota until I had two different lines develope leaks. The first one developed a leaked around the caliper fitting and the second one had a 'blow out' in mid line. I now use OEM type...

    Switching to Sythetic

I would not worry about the 1 qt. left in the HPOP as it is only 1/16 of the total amount of oil. Purging the HPOP is a LOT of work for very little gain. When I switched to synthetic I just drained the old and added the new, EZ!!! Yes, I did change the filter... The extra PS you added...

    CCV mod question

I remember reading somewhere, I think it was here, that if the CCV was plumbed into the exhaust it caused too much back pressure, which did not allow the crankcase to vent properly. I have been looking for the post but can't seem to find it. I ran my hose just past the fuel tank and wish I had...

    Fuel Mileage?

That's for sure Maxtor!! I have slowed down to 65 mph for interstate driving and keep it on 55 when on two lane roads. Even with my 80 hp DP econo tune I usually avarage 17's, city/highway sure wish I could get 22 mph. Wait a minute, maybe I'm not going fast enough...75 mph may just be the...

Brake Controller wiring for 99 PSD

After everything is wired up you may want to check your under hood fuse box. After pluging my harness in and getting my box hooked up I had no power to the box. I needed to add a couple of fuses in order for everything to work correctly. I don't remember the numbers but they will be listed in...

Biting the bullet and getting a DP Tuner

I would skip the 40 hp tow. Once you use the 60 hp tow you will NEVER use the 40. You will LOVE the 80 hp econo, this is how our trucks should run from the factory. Call DP and discuss how you use your truck with Jody, he has a LOT of experience in steering you in the right directuion.

    DTC P1211?

I use to get the same code when I ran a Superchip tuner everytime I accelerated hard. I fixed my problem by getting rid of the Superchip and getting a DP Tuner!!! Man, the difference in performance is stunning. The truck is a LOT more fun to drive and no more codes!!

    trailer brake controller wiring??????????

Check your fuse box under the hood. I was missing two fuses needed to make the brake box work on my truck, when I put'em in the lights and brakes worked.

    2stroke+antigel

I used 8 oz. 2stroke + 8 oz. of Power Service white bottle on my trip to Montana with each fill up. The temp was in the single digites in the morning with the highs in the low 20's. She started with no problem every morning with one cycle of the key.

    Pillar Gauges

I ordered mine from one of the dealers online, got auto meter gauges, and installed them myself. It's a 2 banana job if you have the 'know how'. The guages came with good instructions, the hardest part was drilling and taping for the EGT bung. There are good instructions on line if you do a...

Probable Fix For Boost Boots That Come Off???

WOW!!!!!!!!!!!! They look like 'Big Money Boots" to me. My stock blue boots work just fine and with the money I save by NOT buying new boots I can put on fuel..................But, that's a whole different story.

    2001 w/white smoke....sometimes,need help

I didn't read in ANY of his post where he scanned for codes, I wonder why? It seems as if he's just throwing parts at the truck TRYING to find the 'golden bb'. A code scane will usually point you in the right direction. I may be a shade tree mechanic but I got a code scanner and don't mind...

    UPGRADES

-Do the 6637 air filter mod. -Get a good 4" turbo back exhaust if it's a 7.3 SD. I don't live where they 'salt the roads' so I didn't go with a SS exhaust and saved some $$. -Get a programer. Most guys here use DP but I went with a Superchip (I didn't know any better at the time). I will...

    Brake Job

I used the 'life time replacement' rotors from O'riley Auto and the 'heavy duty' pads. Trucks stops great and with the $$$ I saved bought some beer for my buddies that helped me do the brake job.

    ESOF question

I tried mine yesterday and man do they engage! If the truck isn't running you will KNOW it when you hit the 4x4 switch, it sounds kinda neat!! That may be a good way to test your hubs to see if they are engaging.

    ESOF question

Pat, How did the hubs engage if the truck was not running? I'm not following you here, please explain. Hal
