    The silver box under the frame rail is probably a Banks Transcommand module. I have one. Helps your tranny shift firmer. They work great. I've had one for 2 years.

    I recently talked to a tranny shop guy who told me that all Ford 4R100 TC's after 99 were made with triple clutches . I was considering a Banks Converter but he said I would be wasting money and that he could build one just as tough. Can anyone give me some info on the stock TC? Thanks.

    The stock 02 tranny cooler has a 3/8 inch line and the 6.0 has a 1/2 inch line. It is an easy bolt in replacement for the 02 model.The bolt holes line up perfectly. All you have to do is reduce the line from 1/2 to 3/8. I did the change last summer and what a difference. All you need is...

    The important thing is that you be careful. The truck weighs a lot so don't cheap on jack stands. I used 6 ton stands for the truck and 3 ton stands for the axles.     I have 4.30 gears and am running 37 inch Goodyear MTR's. Actual height is about 36 inches. I'm running just under 2200 at 70 MPH.

    4.10 was not an option on a Diesel up to 2002. Only in the 5.4 and 6.8 V10. Unless your diesel was a dually. I still have the original books from ordering mine.

    A lot of the tranny problems occur when you boost up the engine power which is so tempting and easy to do. Get a larger tranny(or add another)cooler and a tranny temp gauge. Heat is one of the big killers. I switched to a cooler out of an 04. Made a huge difference.

    All the SRW come with 3.73 unless someome changes it like I did. The dually is usually a 4.10.

    I've had a Detroit Locker in mine since new and haven't ever encountered any slop. I love it and if I bought a new truck tomorrow my wife would insist I install a DL in that one as well. But I hope your repairs are not too expensive.

    I believe the trucks with the 6.0 have a cooler that is about 2.5 times bigger then the 7.3. I replaced mine with an 04 cooler last year. Made a huge difference.

    Pre is definitely the best. I had the sensor installed and they put it in post turbo but I made them change it. There was a difference of almost 150F at 70 mph.
